New design was briefly live. New format, filtering options on the search, logos visible for systems, etc.

I just went on it and the new format is live. I kind of expected to hate it based on that screenshot but honestly it feels fine to navigate.

A brief search on the new site and a look at some old article links I had saved seems to suggest that a lot of older articles are not available on the new site. That's a real shame from a data preservation perspective.

I kinda prefer what it looked like before, but at least it seems better than warhammer.com, so that's a plus I suppose.

Just checked it and it looks quite nice on computer and mobile. Very nice after the horrible experience of the webstore which I'm still not a fan of.

 

Download section is really cool how it's all categorised but I think they have missed a trick by not updating core document (such as the core 40K rules with the updated movement mechanics).

 

Also pleasantly surprised about the list of games across the top. Was not expecting Adeptus Titanicus to be there

From how long ago? It's a tricky one you only want to be supporting your current systems, so I can see why they may not refer to articles from older editions.

The main page will need some time to get used to but is fine but I really don't like the layout in the articles.

The actual content I want to see is just to small. Since the top bar follows you, a third is taken up by other articles and the sides of the actual article has white space I'm only getting about 40% of my screen for the article itself which I'm not too happy about.

 

On a whole I'm probably going to get used to it like I got used to the new webstore but is it actually better than the old site? I wouldn't say so. 

(Except the expanded sorting options probably, those are pretty nice)

The first thing I noticed was there was no Black Library link on top.  I then did a search for “Black Library” and got NIL hits.  Does not bode well in my eyes.

 

edit: I found the recent Eidolon novel article in the Heresy section, so BL gets another step down in the hierarchy it seems.

 

edit2: there is a link hidden in the menu as reading (who’d have thought lol)

They finally did it, they actually hired competent web designers this time. Looks very good.

There's an option to save articles, as well as proper sharing options, at least on mobile.

Oh, indeed, old bookmarks don't work. That is a little annoying, won't be too hard to re-search and re-bookmark them, but still.

Seems alright so far, maybe more of a sidegrade then and upgrade or downgrade. Being able to choose a game system from the top is nice.

A few of my saved links a broken too, and don't show up when searching.

I also noticed this in the 3rd part of the Solar Auxilia Heraldy.

 

So looks like some images may be broken as well.

Agree with the comments that it's more of a sidegrade than an upgrade in my opinion. As someone who's tried to go back and find old articles, the better functionality is nice

 

 

But man, if they aren't bringing back backgrounds like the old site is, they need a dark mode or something because that was a lot of bright white space first thing in the morning

My favourite time to use the website was the brief period in the run-up to Warhammer Quest: Cursed City where they had the excellent blood red and dark grey background with the white line art on it. Honestly, I'd kill to get themed backgrounds as an option.
