Firstborn BA kits gone (Pre-Orders, start of October)

I still maintain they're absurdly large, especially as they dwarf the Chaos Terminators, but I won't deny they're a nice looking kit and proportionally a massive upgrade over the old ones.

I always took that to mean that eventually, we were getting new Chaos Terminators.

Chaos Terminators being only 5 years old at this point makes me think that is a while off, although I suppose nothing is impossible given GW have just replaced the first Stormcast models.

They also aren't very out of scale with modern terminators.

 

 

While there's obvious height differences, a little basing would go a long way to getting the top of the terminators closer, I don't think they're all that out of scale.

 

I'll have to take a crack at the Death Guard Terminators next, as far as height goes. I don't have any other cult terminators to check any more, but I would venture that Scarab Occult are probably the most obvious shorties remaining since they came out a while ago.

That's better than I thought, to be fair. For some reason the WHC size comparisons made the Chaos Terminators look a full head shorter.

CSM Terminators should be a little shorter because the LSM Terminators are scaled for Primaris Marines where as the CSM Terminators are scaled for Firstborn Marines.

 

Anyway, in regards to the Pre-Orders.
Kinda surprised they decided to put the Benefictus and the Jump Canoness in this pre-order wave rather than alongside Hivestorm last week.

Not everyone can be juiced up on Chaos Sauce, only Named Characters like Abaddon and horribly mutated Legionnaires like Obliterators get to do that.

To be fair to the Chaos Terminators, they're inline with the scale of the army they're part of: Chaos Space Marines.

I think it's more important that they scale with their army rather than other armies.

 

That said it wouldn't take much to bridge the gap.

Seems like ages since these were first revealed, not just weeks. Good to see the SoB and GSC characters arriving at last. 

 

Some very nice BA models - apart from the Sang Guard which look awful. I may pick one or two up for conversion into my Imperial Fists.

Not in lore they shouldn't - they're not re-sizing the Terminator suits themselves!

I thought GW would've merged them into one kit by now.

Yeah I imagine those will stick around until the Assault Termies get their size-up like the normal ones.

Gotta pace those marine releases a bit. If they haven't done them yet I'm 99% sure we'll see them for the start of 11th, with probably at least two more terminator characters.

With the rumour of it being orks I'm kinda getting excited for a Mega Armour vs Dreadnought Armour showdown.

That sounds quite plausible, an assault Terminator squad led by either a lieutenant in Terminator armour or an apothecar in Terminator armour. Struggling to think who else we'd need character wise in Terminator armour. Maybe an Ancient?
