Hi folks, in the spirit of Black Knight's old Conquest and Imperium threads, thought I'd set up one for the current Combat Patrol collection for ease of referencing, as the information in the News & Rumours thread is spread over a lot of pages. I can't promise it'll be up to the standard of previous efforts, but it will hopefully be of some use to you.

I'm just going to throw down the contents that we know so far, and will update the thread as we go to add stuff like the value calculations and whatnot. Please feel free to comment any requested additions to this post and I'll do my best to include them.

Below is the list of all issues of Combat Patrol, including their UK release date and the contents of the magazine, along with the savings each issue offers.

++DISCLAIMER++ Any saving shown is based on the cost of the magazine (which, aside from issues 01 and 02, is £9.99) and the RRP of like-for-like products available on the Warhammer webstore. If it's not possible to buy the exact variant of the model directly from the webstore, this is noted in the savings calculation. Where kits are spread over multiple issues, I'll give a single saving calculation for the entire kit based on you buying every issue required to assemble the full kit. It is very plausible that better savings are available by buying kits outright from third-party retailers that offer discounts, especially the Space Marine and Tyranid models which are available in bundle sets.

FUTURE BATCHES (with **RUMOURED** contents)

The rumoured contents of these issues come from the Spanish webstore GoblinTrader.es - while I personally think the order here is surprising (and the kit splits are a bit odd in places), the contents of the first 40K partwork (Conquest) was also leaked by a Spanish site and was broadly correct, so this may well end up being mostly true as well. If nothing else, it lines up more or less with the release of the subscriber premium kits, which have confirmed contents and release dates already.

They've normally skipped the one between christmas and new year. no idea what'll happen this year mind with it being both those days, but i would think 19 and 20 will be at least a week later than the date there

I'm inclined to agree, which is why I've not bothered projecting the dates further ahead than batch six!

For anyone using Buymagsdirect.co.im to order individual issues, have you had your Issue 5 shipped? I ordered Issue 5 on 24th September, had the order confirmation and then heard nothing since.

I've left it a few days after the release date of Issue 5 to allow for them to process everything and I will be contacting them on Monday to chase up, but just wanted to see if I was alone in this or if anyone else has experienced similar? In the past I've had excellent experiences with them so it's a surprise to not hear from them like this.

  • 1 month later...

I've compiled what information we have into a spreadsheet to be read in addition to Halandaar's first post.

This is incorporating the leaked* information from Goblintrader as discussed in the main thread for the rest of the run.

I have kept the dates as a weekly release, but this is speculation and may need to be updated if they change so please don't base anything on this other than for information. If anything such as dates or contents are updated, I will update accordingly.

* - I cannot comment on how accurate this information is or not, but it's here as an outline.

I'm thinking Issue 72 and 73 will be 10 Shock Troops each for a total of 20 as show in the picture attached. If this is the case and our info is accurate then they'll be massive value for money!

This is one of the many things in this "leak" that has me feeling doubtful about it's veracity. Termagants are available widely and cheaply thanks to their presence in all the different starter sets, and yet they've still been split over a total of four issues to minimise savings. I appreciate there are only so many issues here and there is a lot to squeeze in, but the idea that a full kit of Cadians will be available for a tenner per squad seems too good to be true, especially when similar 2-sprue, 10-model infantry kits (GSC Neophytes, WE Jakhals) are being slated as being split over two issues, but you'll then get something like the Juggerlord/Lord Invocatus being two issues (compare with Bike Chaplain which is one issue). Cthonian Berserks (3x 0.5 sprues) is two issues, but Einhyr Hearthgard (2x 1.0 sprues) is only one?

And if you were designing this, would you really put Berserkers in four consecutive issues? The whole thing feels off with how Hachette have done it before and I would not be surprised one bit if this turns out to be a guess by the store to generate preorders. Hachette and GW want people engaged in this for as long as possible, and releasing all the kits for a faction in a single 10-issue chunk reduces the chances people stick around vs spreading the factions out two at a time across 20~ issues.

In a typical show of aggressive scalping, issues 19 through 24 of Combat Patrol went up for preorder on Forbidden Planet yesterday, and issues 19 and 20 (Parasite of Mortrex and Bike Chaplain) are already sold out. If you are looking to order specific issues you are going to need to be very on the ball.

Worth noting also that although 19-24 are available to order, there are no covers or contents listed so we're no closer to learning whether or not the running order from Spain is correct.

Yeah, had checked that yesterday as well, and wasn't surprised in the slightest.

The other place I'm checking is warbay

Not sure if it's already had 19 & 20 and they've sold out already, or if it's just up to 18 as they don't show out of stock.

Good thing is they do show how many they have in stock!

Are these being scalped or are they just very popular because they're incredibly good discounts? Like, I appreciate it's frustrating to see them sell out so quick but I also don't tend to see Combat Patrols being massive marked up on eBay etc., outside of the special edition model (and even then, it tends to end up as a similar price to buying a standard model rather than eyewatering amounts of cash.)

I think it's a bit of both. I'm almost 100% sure I read somewhere on one of the stores early on that each issue is limited to how many you can buy at a time, so that would suggest that a level of scalping has been present in the past. Though as you say, it can't be that lucrative as  there can't be much mark up when reselling.

Yeah, you could possibly at best double your money on each issue on more valuable issues, but the cap would be how much it costs to buy the model normally, so it's not exactly printing money. You'd have to be really desperate for that extra couple quid for the hassle of packaging up and posting out, and the profit would be reduced due to postage costs (which again limits how much someone is going to pay as a total cost).

Cant comment for the latest issue, and there  does seem to be a few days delay anyway before the get to the shelves, but the first terminator issue had multiple copies in store at FP Shaftbury Avenue last Friday despite the webstore having been out of stock for several weeks - I am hoping the chaplain and parasite issues will be the same

They didn't go up yesterday, they went up on the 22nd.

Sounds like the sort of thing it would have been cool for someone to post here if they already knew it

Every previous partwork has been hit by scalpers and this one is going to be no exception. The reason we've not seen too much of it so far is because the models that have come out in the first issues are ones that the secondary market is already flooded with thanks to Leviathan and the other starter sets.

19 and 20 were the first two issues that offered a big discount on a model you've not been able to get cheap previously. Yes the resale cap is whatever 20% off RRP is (i.e. What FLGS sell them for), but for the Chaplain that's £28. Scalpers will lap this up at £10 an issue and even reselling at £24 it's undercutting the FLGS and making 140% profit. (And no, postage costs won't eat into the profit because they will charge it to buyers on eBay, who also no longer charge sellers any fees).

I mean, in Stormbringer it wasn't the issues with Stormcast Vindictors that were getting scalped, it was the Dragons, the Giant, the Treelord etc. Same will apply here.

I wouldn't pay 14.86 for an issue from them:no:

£13.19 including the postage.

I’m thinking of it in terms of the cost of the mini (Chaplain on bike). That’s a big discount, over 50% less than FLGS websites.

If the issue doesn't show available as a pre-order you can set a subscription for one issue.

I have just done it for issue 19.

It hasn't debited my credit card yet and isn't showing as a pending transaction either though I have received an order confirmation email.
