A 1-issue subscription is £13.19. Given the mag is a tenner, and 2nd Class Large Letter postage costs about £1.50, paying a £1.70 "premium" (which also needs to cover the cost of the packaging and labelling, and someone's time to handle it) is hardly extortionate, especially when you can guarantee these will be hitting eBay for upwards of £23 each.

 

I mean it would cost me more to travel to the nearest Forbidden Planet and buy one off the shelf at face value (assuming they even had one in stock)

I have just done it for issue 19.

It hasn't debited my credit card yet and isn't showing as a pending transaction either though I have received an order confirmation email.

 

 

If it's anything like Forbidden Planet, they bill your card when it's time to actually dispatch it.

I've been charged this morning for my order with Newstand for issue 20. I can't comment on if others is the same though, just that I've been charged straight away (which I prefer).

Yeah as it happens I have also been charged, for both 19 and 20 together. That suits me fine but might be worth knowing for people trying to order the next 12 issues in one go!

Speaking to my local news agent, they advised that Issue 16 due next week will be the last issue for the year. According to them there won't be a release on Christmas day, which makes sense for obvious reasons! They couldn't say for certain whether or not there would be a release on 1st January though.

That does basically match up with what Newsstand is saying with release dates, although Forbidden Planet is showing completely different dates!

From a facebook group I'm in, for subscribers the 1st special issue (and extra cost) will be included in the 19-22 issue delivery. The Opt-out letter is included with the 15-18 + premium kit delivery. Picture of the letter and whatnot isn't mine and comes from facebook.

The extra will cost £9.99 and will be a small mag which includes Chief Librarian Tigurius, plus lore and rules etc for him.

I just cancelled my sub - the main things I wanted - terminators and some bonus nids ahve already come, I have no desire for orks or votann, and I have eldar coming out of my ears. I might try and pick up some of the GSC units, but I don't fancy paying for another 40 issues before I get it!

Interesting that they are doing all Eldar then all Chaos rather than taking it in turns, means if you just want one faction you can just sub for a limited run. Wonder why they did this because it’s different to how they did the first lot.

 

Very tempted to sub for issues 26 through 29 for the Wraithlord and Windriders, because that’s a great deal.

 

Issues 39 and 40 with the Wraithguard and Terminators are also insane value if you can pick those up.

Be careful, I talked to them when I was cancelling (can only do it over the phone) and when you sub, it begins from the earliest issue they have available/in stock. If you pause your sub, say for 3 months after issue 20, it will begin again from the first issue you didnt get, 21, and if it's out of stock, they will back fill your order with in stock issues, which will be invariably paint, and only paint.

That’s interesting, because you select exactly the issue you want it to start from and it clearly says this in the email receipt too. If they try to pull a fast one they will not get away with it from me without a refund or replacement.

Looks like it at the moment. I can't find any on their search for it, and all my history items to issues are now "404 not found".

 

I wonder if they've decided that it's just too much hassle 

I've got an issue coming next week (Chaplain on bike), so I'll see if that arrives or not!

My Newstand Parasite arrived today. No chaplain on a bike yet so I assume/hope they are sending that next week and it isnt about to be cancelled.

Yeah parasite is in the shops this week, managed to bag one from Morrisons by happening to be there just as they were putting the magazine delivery on the shelves. I too have a chappy ordered from Newsstand so will report when it arrives.

That's interesting. Bit of a nuisance as I was going to set up another subscription run to cover some of the Eldar and Chaos stuff. 

 

FWIW I also got the Parasite issue from them last week , and it still shows as an active subscription with 1 issue outstanding in my account so I'm expecting the Chaplain to turn up this week.

Was quite surprised about the size of the Parasite sprue - thought it would be a lot bigger. The model too is smaller than I thought.
