Hello!

My friends have invited me to join a tournament where you play two in pairs against others. Each army should be 1250 points each.

Max one unit of each datasheet (2 for Battleline).

This is my army right now:

Ragnar Blackmane (Warlord)

Logan Grimnar (on foot)

5 Intercessors

1 Impulsor

5 Assault Interssors with Jump packs

1 Ballistus Dreadnought

6 Bladeguard Veterans

5 Infiltrators

6 Thunderwolf Cavalry

5 Wolf Guard Terminators

Ragnar rides with the Impulsor and 6 Bladeguard Veterans

Logan leads the Terminators.

Is there anything in particular you think I should change?

Should I trade Logan Grimnar for a Wolf Lord on Thunderwolf?

Do you have any suggestions for tactics?

I do think the support from a thunder lord, or honestly a battle leader even, would do better for the tcav.

What is your partners list? That would help with evaluation.

I´m gonna play with a team. 3 other people. Some matches are 2 vs 2, 3 vs 3 or 1 vs 1.The team choses which one who will play which game.

As I'm fairly new to Warhammer I won't be playing any matches on my own.

My companions play with Dark angels, Necrons and Imperial Knights

Ok so you shoukd have some solid shooting support from your team mates, so that's good. Are you playing Stormlance? If not that's the detachment I would advocate for with this list as you want to close quick with the bulk of your units. Otherwise though I think it should be good for that type of game setup.

As you are playing small points and I am not a fan of thunderwolves at all and never have been, I would sub out the twolf cav for a phobos librarian and a scout squad. Playing small games like this often means typically you are playing cagey with opponents for objectives. Having your infiltrators invisible on your home objective or off on some distant objective is vital to winning the objective game while your intercessors do whatever passes for actions these days in PN and sticky objectives. The scouts on the other hand pop tart around being annoying and force your opponent to keep units on objectives or lose them meaning you are forcing his hand. I havent done the points but I would assume you still have some left over, throw in Arjac in the terminators. He gives some bonuses and just makes them a little better.

I would take the Champions of Russ detachment with the sustained ability but thats just me.

As for tactics, it depends on the mission. On most missions I would have the infitrators guard the home objective while the intercessors duck and cover and try to be as unobtrusive as possible going for unoccupied no mans land objectives and not bringing attention to themselves. I have literally had lone dudes sit inside of a building under a floor and hold objectives and nothing else and the opponent generally just kept forgetting they were there for multiple turns. Then again I have also had a scout squad camo'd up with custom ghili cloaks with lichen on them hide in a woods in the middle of the board and both myself and the opponent forgot they were there until we were packing up the terrain. Ragnar and boys: since you picked these guys, you probably already know to zip them around the side hugging terrain going for an objective. I would have went with assault intercessors due to their bonus on objectives but its really player choice on whats more effective to you as both are good options. Ballistus of course, sits in cover and shoots. JAI go for weaker objective defenders, maybe supported by the regular intercessors. Terminators are your fire brigade going where most needed. I use a terminator captain for the innate reroll charges, but you can do something similar with a rapid ingress if you play it smartly.

He said 1250. Sometimes with a team sometimes not. It is possible to cheese it out at that level but I dont recommend it for fun reasons. I always assume I'm running independent that way Im not screwed if I do have to run solo. We also dont have the other peoples lists. Best to prep for all comers.
