Some new Squat Prospectors for Necromunda

These guys will be plastic!

I think these guys look a little dopey but in a good way, they're really charming. I wonder if they will be big enough to suitably stand in for the Einhyr Hearthguard

The Necromunda Redone Squats vs Votann Short Space Wolves aesthetics is the best example of how bad main 40K has lost its way and how nice faithful reboots of old stuff can look.

This is the first time I indeed like the squats equivalent more than the votann ( wich I generally find much better designs.)

not in the least because when replacing hearthguard they become an aesthic link between the main troops and the more miner focused designs ( berzerkers and big gun toting ones.)

I wonder if its as easy as a head switch.

I think these are the first NecroSquat models that aren't doing much for me.

I loved the Exo-Driller because it was a big, chonky suit of armour that contrasted the generic Squats. Shrinking it down on these guys just makes them seem a bit... dumpy? They look awkward, but not in a 'big suit of armour way', more the proportions seeming kind of off - especially the guy in the bottom centre. I know they're probably meant to be a throwback to the egg-shape of the old Exo-Armour but... ehh.

When the models are in-hand I'll probably have a higher opinion of them, that's usually what happens.

I expected so too on first sight, but it doesnt seem to be the case. I might do an updated tracker image when the RE drops later today.

RE is already out, was about to do a post on it, as while most days the text is generally pointless, today's fits in with the image a bit better.

Not sure the paintjob helps these guys, IMO they need to be more metallic or oldhammer, hazard stripes on the fists maybe

Post it, the cabling means its definitely 40k. Ive got my speculation image ready ( and to remain on this topic, indeed these squats dont knock out rumor engines.. however they did say there is more new squats for Necromunda being revealed soon.)

Done.

Personal, I quite like these new Squat kits*, the fact that they're coming in as plastic is fun but I'm also wondering what the other reveals will be for them? A more faithful rendition of the old trikes?

*not enough though to be deterred from looking at the enforcers

If we end up get Ironhead Squat Trikers, and more importantly they if come in Plastic, then we're quite a way in to being able to proxy an entire LoV army as Ironhead Squats with minimal kitbashing.

On the subject of more models tho, I feel GW could definitely make a quick buck off some more "Champions and Prospects" kits for the other Factions in the game (mainly Enforcers, Ironhead Squats and Ash Wastes Nomads, since I think Corpsegrinder Cults already have Prospects?) unless by some incredibly weird twist of fate the Exo-Kynn ARE the Ironhead Squats Prospects.

It just feels like a niche that GE have strangely left open.

GW found the Saturnine Terminator template, stuck the pauldrons on permanently, then made them stumpy?

They look do look pretty nice though!

Fun and unexpected - although I really hope there will be more for Secundus as a setting rather than being left behind after a quick release blitz - the Underhells campaign requires some extra things which it would be a shame to not see in plastic, given the amazing modelling opportunities (ie the hauliers who take non-malstrain gangs to Secundus). Also Secundus itself is a rich setting, which could really lead to more horror and wyrdness, more radiation and mutation, more of a true "under" feeling.

These look awesome! Has any release date for them been mooted?

Great to hear some other bikes are on the way too, as a contrast to the Votann hover bike pioneers. There aren't a great range of proxies available at the moment that fit well with the more modern Votann/Ironhead aesthetic

I do like these models.  Like most of the Squats in Necromunda they're a bit of a call back to the OG Squats, so I really hope they do make some bikers at some point!  The dumpy Dwarves IN SPAAACE aesthetic appeals more than the Votann's high-tech armour and such.  I've thought about getting a Hernkyn Yaegirs team as a proxy for a tricked out Squat gang, or as crew for my Secundus Ferryman transport.

I also discovered in my anti-grav Hekaton conversion that the wheels from the Hekaton work well as a replacement for the rear Pioneer bike anti-grav (minimal conversion work required), but the front wheel needs to be slimmer, to fit the forks.  Squat trikes may well be on the cards again!

You know, if GW chose a more industrial paint scheme they'd look suitably grim dark and not as jarringly cartoony.

With a view to them painted such, they'd look pretty cool.
