Battlescribe has been able to show or hide Legends content with a simple checkbox for 3 editions now, it's completely doable. Regardless what do the fraters think? Your comment regarding the status of Legends units on their official 40k app is very true, and is all that one needs to know in order to understand GW's true commitment and feelings for Legends. IMO it was a mechanism created to keep a full-on customer revolt from happening. It's 40k purgatory. They will never do anything to promote Legends units in their game, and that also means the 40k app. They view it as contrary to selling new models. Yeah, there are actually a ton of "non-tournament" style missions available. People just tend to focus on whatever the latest GT pack is rather than branching out. Crusade especially has some really cool missions, like the battles with rising water levels, lights that have to be turned on and off, crumbling ground, asymmetrical forces, etc. It would be nice to see those kinds of missions getting the spotlight in some official batreps. Help break people's focus on tournament play, which would also help the Legends issue. Edit - they did this in a White Dwarf batrep last year. Votann vs GSC with a mechanized Votann convoy fighting their way through a GSC ambush on a rolling board. That was very cool! DemonGSides
There's some great non competitive narrative type content in YouTube as well. PlayOn does a bit, tho they do put a lot behind a paywall. Brother Nathan
i quite like the idea of a legends tourney event. i was also thinking gw could do something better in their wording of such. like they did with termys- z can be ran as x.a lot of things make sense and should have been done, a few words bikes as bikes, closer the armament the better etc. bring in the base list (sizes) for the current models for old to need etc. if id bought a diamacheron for last edition and this edition its no longer a thing id be sad. if even a not to run it as a norn and take the disadvantage of size etc itd be at least something palatable. other thought is the old special character interaction for legends, ie just requiring opponents consent. most such units just need to not push out ability and not be highly receptive of such to keep them balanced but it shouldn't be this difficult for gw to manage better.
