Welcome! Before going to far into unit advice, what has attracted you to the Stormlance detachment? Knowing that will help determine recommended units.

I've been attracted to it because i wanted to have a balance of both chapter exclusive and non chapter exclusive units. Plus, i also wanted to use Thunderwolf Cavalry to there full extend.

Groovy! [Edit: I recommend this list and getting the Thunderwolf-riding units last because there's a decent chance they will get new models in the coming months. If you use Assault Intercessor models for the Blood Claws then the rest are can all be up-to-date Primaris models]

I'll do a few options in the following posts, including trying to get as many Thunder Cav as possible.

Option 1 - Tasting Menu

One big unit of Thunder Cav with double character support is the main course. However, you also get to play with Ragnar + Blood Claws for turning solids into liquids, a Chaplai-*cough*-Wolf Priest with Bladeguard Veterans to be a solid offensive and defensive unit, and a Libra-*sneeze, ooh allergies must be acting up-Rune Priest with Assault Intercessors to really go after Objectives. I didn't mess around with Character weapons, so adjust to taste.

Option 2 - So Many Wolves

Three max-size squads of Thunderwolf Cav, a Wolf Guard Battle Leader for each, and a Wolf Lord for your warlord. That left 60 points which is a bit awkward to fill, so YOLW (you obviously like wolves) and two packs of Fenrisian Wolves to run interference.

## Character [340pts]
Wolf Guard Battle Leader on Thunderwolf [80pts]: Crushing teeth and claws, Bolt Pistol, Relic weapon
Wolf Guard Battle Leader on Thunderwolf [80pts]: Crushing teeth and claws, Bolt Pistol, Relic weapon
Wolf Guard Battle Leader on Thunderwolf [80pts]: Crushing teeth and claws, Bolt Pistol, Relic weapon
Wolf Lord on Thunderwolf [100pts]: Crushing teeth and claws, Bolt Pistol, Relic Weapon

## Mounted [600pts]
Thunderwolf Cavalry [200pts]:
• 6x Thunderwolf w/ storm shield: Crushing teeth and claws, Heirloom weapon, Storm shield
Thunderwolf Cavalry [200pts]:

## Beast [60pts]

My best friend's main army is White Scars, so I've had a lot of experience playing against Stormlance.

- Having a big blob of Bikes with a Chaplain and an ATV at 1000 points, is just such a hard unit to shift. They move crazy fast, they shoot okay, and they hit hard in close combat with the Chaplain buff. Ride Hard Ride Fast gives you amazing damage mitigation for the unit and is one of the best defensive buffs in the game. (Keep in mind though that the Chaplain will give them +1 to wound in melee all the time, so you can't stack it with Lance from the Shock Assault strat (unless your opponent gives you a -wound effect)).

- Being able to Fall Back and Charge is a very powerful effect and you should always do so if you can (especially with units like Thunderwolf Cavalry that get bonuses on the charge.) The ability to bounce around the board from one fight to another on a whim makes the army very hard to fin down.
- Units with Assault Weapons are a great addition to the list, allowing you to blast away while blitzing across the board. Inceptors are particularly good at this. Putting Blitzing Fusillade on your Plasma Exterminators while getting Oath re-rolls had lead to a big damage output increase.

- Don't feel like EVERY unit has to be chargy and fighty, it's good to have a few smaller units like Scouts or Eliminators to stay safe and secure objectives. Basic Intercessors work well for this too since their weapons are Assault and they have sticky objectives.

Option 3 - Mounted Balanced As All Things Should Be

This one is still all mounted, but drops some Thunderwolves for guns. The Chap-*cough*-Wolf Priest on Bike with the Outrider+ATV squad is there to get close and pump out 22 Devastating Wound shots before charging, retreating and doing it all over again. The Grey Hunter Squad is kind of a jack-knife, but be warned that it probably won't be a game legal unit in a few months. You could replace them with Intercessors.

## Character [380pts]
Chaplain on Bike [95pts]: Absolver Bolt Pistol, Crozius Arcanum, Twin Bolt Rifle, Feinting Withdrawal

Wolf Guard Battle Leader on Thunderwolf [80pts]: Crushing teeth and claws, Bolt Pistol, Relic weapon

Wolf Guard Battle Leader on Thunderwolf [105pts]: Crushing teeth and claws, Fury of the Storm, Bolt Pistol, Relic weapon

Wolf Lord on Thunderwolf [100pts]: Crushing teeth and claws, Bolt Pistol, Relic Weapon

## Battleline [85pts]
Grey Hunters [85pts]:
• 1x Grey Hunter Pack Leader: Bolt Pistol, Boltgun, Power Fist
• 2x Grey Hunter w/ chainsword: Astartes chainsword, Bolt Pistol, Boltgun, Close combat weapon
• 2x Grey Hunter w/ Special Weapon: Close combat weapon, Bolt Pistol, Meltagun

## Mounted [530pts]
Outrider Squad [230pts]:
• 1x Invader ATV [70pts]: Close Combat Weapon, Heavy Bolt Pistol, Twin Bolt Rifle, Onslaught Gatling Cannon
• 5x Outrider: Astartes Chainsword, Heavy Bolt Pistol, Twin Bolt Rifle
• 1x Outrider Sergeant: Astartes Chainsword, Heavy Bolt Pistol, Twin Bolt Rifle

Thunderwolf Cavalry [200pts]:
