To try and keep my other threads tidier, I’ve decided to make a new one for my gorkamorka project

i got some kruleboyz, imo the best orks GW have ever done (barring my fondness for the lead ones of yore), the scale of them is just perfect and they are genuinely horrifying. I’m trying to avoid the comically oversized nature of ork weapons and so on. I’ll be using some imperial bits for bionics, and maybe even weapons to call back to the 1st /2nd ed ranges before they had their own design language

Undercoat. You can see that I’ve undercoated them in violet and green before zenithal spraying with wraithbone. I let the rattle cans sputter a bit. This provides loads of visual interest to the layers that follow, and gives the orks a variety of desaturated skin tones rather than the classic bright green.

This is fantastic. I too am a big fan of the Kruleboyz, 40Kifying them is a really good idea.

Thanks!

Spanner. Skin first passes. I highlighted from the zenithal with a grey/ brown/ pink, then used a dilute oil emerald green. This gives me a really desaturated green that I will then go over. It’s a bit time consuming waiting for the oil to dry so early in the process, but this experiment appeals to my other persona as an artist
