I mean it's up for preorder this Saturday, it's not out yet by any stretch. If you're suggesting it could be up for preorder by April then yes I agree.

I just find that timeline to be crazy fast for GW. The Krieg box is up for preorder tomorrow, won't come out for two weeks, which means that the absolute earliest possible time for the IG codex to actually drop is Feb 1st which would be the quickest turn around on a codex so far. I would expect at least 2-3 weeks between the army box release and the codex release, probably a month. So we are in March before the IG stuff even finishes. Another 2-3 weeks for marketing and pushing the Eldar stuff, plus a 2 week preorder, we are in April. Then we've got Knights, another month of stuff dedicated to that and we are in May.

If GW worked faster or doubled up codexes still maybe!  I'm still leaning late summer/Fall for the Chaos Legions to start popping off.

Well the rumour currently is spring time , so I’m gonna go off what I’ve heard, also that would is insane and cruel for gw to reveal fulgrim to be like yeah anyways you won’t get him for 6-10 months

Again, it wouldn't be the first time. I know that's not what people want to hear though.

I subscribe to drip feed previews, with a last March weekend announcement for a first weekend April preorder.

40k needs to:

  • Fully get all the Krieg stuff out.
  • Big release for Eldar
  • Knights (& Cnights)
  • Launch Emperor's Children
  • Thousands Sons
  • World Eaters
  • Death Guard
  • (Strongly rumoured) big Space Wolf revamp
  • Grey Knights
  • Black Templars
  • Leagues of Votann
  • Dark Eldar
  • Start the end-of-the-edition narrative

That's... a lot to get out in the next twelve months. I can see EC in April/May, if GW have their foot all the way down on the gas.

As well as they won’t be as heavily active in 40K during the summer cause 30k is meant to be getting some sort of new edition so they’ll be the focus

Eldar release isn't too big, 7 kits but 4 characters, 3 units. Though these were shown in November and not yet dropped. Eldar February, knights and EC March/ April?

Hopefully we'll get an actual roadmap soon.

I really didn’t like how they did the roadmap 90 percent then telling us for the next 4 months on 2024 we aren’t getting anything and then saying ok here are 3 codexes and that’s it, I mean I get it like they didn’t want to show ec yet but they’ve done “redacted” before so not sure what their plan was

Keep in mind they're also apparently going full throttle for AoS as well this year.

Either something is dropping later than expected or we're going to be inundated with kits this year

Damn, sounds like they’re going all out in every format , very nice to hear

Do keep in mind that narrative ramp-ups to an edition launch won't really stop GW from releasing a Codex just some months before an edition change if they feel like it. Specially if the edition is not a big reset, which we don't know if it'll be or not yet. Hell, they'll drop huge model waves during the narrative stuff, just look at all the Darkoath stuff Slaves to Darkness got just a few months away from the new AoS edition last year, and this one has been a hard rule reset.

Also, last time Valrak mentioned Space Wolves they'd gone from "summer" to "tail end of the year", so they might very well be the kickoff release to whatever narrative 40k is getting. Probably also means the space between EC and them is going to cover a lot of the one kit Codices, so the other Cult Legions for sure, maybe Grey Knights and Black Templars as well. Votann are supposedly getting a second wave, but we've heard nothing of their position in the release timeline, or even if that second wave is happening this edition, so they're a bit in the air. As are Dark Eldar, of which we've heard absolutely nothing, so either they're getting one model and their refresh will have to wait, or they might be one of the last Codices being released near the end of the edition with maybe a surprise or two to help them out a bit until they get their time in the spotlight.

In any case, concerning EC, the year being so very packed with hefty releases across multiple games is precisely the reason why I think they can't really afford to space them out. I don't think Knights and Chaos Knights will impact the timeline much, they can easily be done in one weekend if they want to, it's just two books and one kit they'll both probably get. Although the release format of limited edition army box first and standalone Codex and kits later does complicates things, timeline-wise.

Do they consider the Krieg box with the Codex the "launch" of the Guard Codex when it comes to the roadmap and they can therefore move on to Eldar, or won't they release the Eldar until after the standalone Guard Codex release? Will they release the standalone Guard Codex and non-army box kits soon and wait two months to release the kits in the army box on their own, or release them all at once?

Similarly, what about the rumoured Emperor's Children army box? Does it count as the main release and therefore has to wait its turn, or can they kinda "slide" it in sooner than expected because the actual release with all the standalone things is later? Will they just release the army box and the standalone stuff one weekend after another because they don't really have that many kits?

In the end, we can talk and wonder about it as much as we want, but we can really only do one thing, which is waiting patiently. I remember back in 2017 when they showed a glimpse of Mortarion at AdeptiCon in March and he wasn't revealed until August, I can wait.

Ohh when did that change about the Space Wolves? If that's the case I can see the 4 chaos codexs coming out on the trot then quite easy.

Also, I think GW would happily release another army set before the individual releases come out.

I think gw are gonna get these army box sets out the way with krieg and ec , cause eldar aren’t getting one it seems , and neither will knights or the other 3 chaos gods , so after the 2 army box sets of krieg and ec come out then it is just a codex timeline rather than the staggered release of an army box then codex 4-6 weeks later

If youre suggesting they'd drop the EC army box soon, or before releasing any books individually, you'd end up waiting possibly 4 months after the army box for the army in any form.

It will drop probably around the same time knights release. Which is looking to be late March atm.

I’m not suggesting that I’m saying the army box could be around late march April for ec

Nah that's cool, thank you for deciphering my first thing in the morning pre-glasses message that auto correct decided to damn me on.

GW doing a good job at stopping leaks. Really surprised we've had zilch so far. Shame GW can't put this much effort into other areas.

Will Fulgrim have Psychic powers (or whatever they are now)? I'm not very familiar with him.

They don’t do psychic powers anymore , it’s more of added abilities , the only one that really has psychic stuff is Magnus, so fulgrim will probably just have different abilities but the main one usually is choose between these and units within 6 get them sort of thing.

and yeah they must really care about this release, and at this point being days away from LVO I don’t want any leaks , just want to see it same time as everyone else officially

Fulgrim is a Daemon Primarch tho, and Mortarion also has a "Psychic Gun".

IMO Fulgrim will get the Primarch "Choose 1 of 3" ability and probably a Psychic Gun (almost certainly just him screaming loud :cuss: tho)

Would be very pleased to see Fulgrim's psychic abilities represented in some form on the table in 40k after the bizarre decision by the 30k rules writers to have Fulgrim Transfigured possess none at all.

Yeah I think one thing I’m excited for is to see all the rules they give them cause we’ve never had a proper army so it’s all new

Maybe a scream or if one of his swords is the rumoured crone sword it might be the psychic weapon

I kinda hope the demons merging with cult armies is true. How cool would it be to have the best couple join a unit of noise marines or legionaries hehe.

Nah, because it's a big "screw you" to people that collected Daemon armies.
