I don't have a lot of time to really look at all of this before I leave for work, but I'd just like to say the following:

Holy :cuss: :cuss: I am SO HAPPY

May come back later in the day and go into detail. May just look at the pictures and video for twelve hours straight, who knows

I dunno, that sounds a little excessive ;)

Great models overall. The only (minor) nitpick I have is that everything is in Mk6 armour. Would've liked some more variation to show their Veterans of the Long War status. (Also I don't like that Mk6 has become the default HH mark).

It's not the default mark but the fluff "recently" had it that EC had a preference for mkvi. Considering how bland mkvi is there's plenty ornamentation here and evidence of 10,000 years of party and excess.

Thousand sons are in mkiv, death guard mkiii and unsure on world eaters. However, it does mean each god legion as a different mk of armour for preference.

The base marines honestly I love. Two army boxes to start and then add the CP and fulgrim later. I've got enough heresy vehicles they can borrow if I want to play 40k but failing that, heresy they'll be in.

Literally just popped by this thread for this :whistling::laugh:

Anyway, the range looks great, all the designs are spot on - in fact, you might say, perfect  - and I like that there's a solid mix of ranged and melee stuff  I look forward to seeing people painting these new miniatures!

Not into EC but this is a very good set. Unlike some other sets, most notably Krieg, if you pick this up you get a proper useable force with quite a lot of models actually and seems very good value. There’s something off when an imperial guard army set has less models than a space marine one.

On the models themselves, they are well done I think. Only thing that seems a bit odd to me is how skinny they are. They seem to be modelled with the HH MkVI guys as a base, but for 40K they seem a bit thin compared to other newer marines. Maybe they want them to look very different to DG which I get but I’d still have bulked them out a little.

Lucius is excellent.

Not enough to change my mind about them or Slaanesh in general as a faction but I’m really pleased for those of you who have been waiting for this. One of the most solid launches of any in 10th I’d say.

Gosh dang it.

I really need to resist.

So Angron took a beating every single time vs Fulgrim, that is concerning rules wise. I fear he'll be over powered. then nerfed. hope not

the models look awesome

you have new scouts like the votann but better?

noise marines are good vs?

new 8 bound? ish.

Tormentor kit? new battle line? was that right?

between army and cp that is 30 of them seems like a lot.

maybe not

World Eaters are MK V a.k.a "Heresy Pattern" Power Armour.

Basically just a cobbled together mix of whatever the Marine could get their mits on.

Hmm so no Terminators to be seen. Is the phoenix guard unemployed now?

So I am wondering in general what will be usable from my current CSM collection.

Land Raiders and rhinos are visible. Which means probably Vindicators and Predators are available too.

Possesd could be used as proxys for the EC possed, and legionaries could be proxies for the EC legionaries. Noise marines remain noise marines at least.

The new range looks awesome, and I think they really nailed it! I just don't see me buying a whole new army after owning and collecting CSM EC since a long time.

Any more thoughts on this?

So ruleswise I think it's caught most of it.

Fulgrim can give out always strikes first?

Kakophonist giving noise marines sustained hits.

Tormentors (ranged) have OC2 sticky objectives and infiltrators.

Infractors (close combat) have move7, scout and precision on their swords.

Noisemarines get 2 blastmasters in a unit now.

As for the Phoenix Guard, the late(r) Heresy Legiones Hereticus rules have this to say, so yeah they're basically unemployed after Fulgrim ascends

Quote

With Fulgrim assuming his immortal form, many of his personal retinue found their role redundant Many relinquished some or all of their ceremonial wargear, instead taking up other roles within the Legion, while the remainder instead sought to prove their worth anew in the eyes of their brethren and their beloved Primarch.

Awesome. They slipped my attention after I've been drooling all over lucius and Noise marines now. :D

Yes they have terminators, they just don't appear to be special or a special unit of them.

bit of a shame, but you have a 8 bound, blade guard type unit i guess.

No reason why we can't get special terminators at some point down the road along with things like sonic dreadnoughts etc, so there's still hope! It is a pity, but we were never going to get all of the possible goodies in a release this size, and I'm just glad they've smashed it out of the park

I think I pretty much love everything except the Noise Marines. They’re not bad models, but I thought they’d be the unit you’d look at and think ‘man, the EC are really messed up, huh?’ But they look more ‘normal’ than even the HH Kakophani. Just Marines with big guns and backpacks. They’re not far off the Havocs, looks wise.

So.. there’s 2 generic characters, Lucius, fulgrim

Noisey bois, (not) palatine blades, wannabe palatine blades and wannabe noisey bois.

1 monster

3 characters

2 elite troops

2 troops

decent selection. I wonder what holdovers from the CSM dex will make the transition to slaanesh

Flawlessly executed minis.

A perfect blend of new while still keeping an eye on Jes Goodwins timeless designs.

All the vehicles and demon engines. The Hellbrute. The sorceror guy. And then of course all the Slaanesh demons.
