The Solar Aux article showing some more regiment schemes is marked as Heresy Thursday. What a waste especially when they showed the 2 tanks and that the book reviews on Saturday morning will show them further.

Once again, I don’t understand their marketing.

Here's hoping this thursday is just them trying to shuffle stuff after the mechanicum box leak and them showing off two vehicles on accident. (I also presume that the krios and karacnos share the sprues with other stuff that they don't want to show yet.)

Worst case scenario is that this "season" of heresy thursdays now also shares its slot with fluff-piece articles, so if one is only interested in 30k model releases it is now a three week wait between dopamine hits, and not even considering that it's probably just the three marine characters from the martian civil war for the next three, one of which is another imperial fist.

I swear the other scheme articles weren't even on a thursday, but yeah a rather disapointing Heresy Thursday or Heraldry Thursday we should say

So far 2 have been on Thursdays and 2 have been on Tuesdays.

Still pretty fair to feel disappointed with the old scheme testing style templates. They're not even showing how the models will look with the proposed colours like the past articles. And meanwhile, the LI mechanicum stuff is extra exciting because it's a preview into the full scale version.

The counter complaining on some social media and the stanning for an obvious low effort article is kinda baffling. There's comments on how people should just be grateful...for a glorified list of paints to buy.

That's a pretty bleak outlook for what is supposed to be a mainstream game (Age of Darkness). 40k and AoS know that there will at least be a steady stream codex/army books coming and semi-regular rules rebalances, we're struggling to get FAQs for AoD and LI, let alone a roadmap that doesn't just say "more stuff is coming!"

And at long last, it gets an official reveal.

The Krios Squadron is a box of six tanks which can be built with your choice of several horrible weapons from the Tech-Priests of Mars. It comes with six trusty lightning cannons and four nasty rad-scourers.

Four pulsar-fusils and their accompanying shielding are also on the sprue, in order to make four Krios Venators instead. These relatively short-range weapons transform the mobile Krios chassis into a high-speed tank hunter. All variants come equipped with volkite caliver sponsons.

Ranged reinforcements arrive via the Karacnos Assault Tank Squadron, which contains four assault tanks armed with radiological mortar batteries. Created to help soften up the core of biological enemy forces ahead of the primary assault, the Karacnos can hold its own against light armour with a pair of lightning locks.

Core brand =/= core game.

True, but if we really are on the brink of 3.0, that is edition churn worthy of a core game; maybe just a little more effort on balance and clarity first time round, as well as FAQ as we go, is deserved.

Gun counts are a bit unusual. I don't think we've had a box yet where you couldn't do all the vehicles with the same weapon. Saves them making a second variant box I guess (how many Leman run boxes are we up to now?)

It's curious how inconsistent they are with this. They probably could have done all the Russes on one sprue and put three tanks on there instead of four.

In this case I assume it's just that there was only room for 2 of some of the guns on the sprue, not three, so you get four in a two-sprue box. That's a little awkward if you want Venators because they come in squadrons of two and you aren't allowed to buy a third one to increase the squadron's size - they come in twos. Normal Krios can only be increased by three.

The best option in that case might be to get two boxes to make six normal Krios and six Venators. Then you can make legal squadrons of both types.

You could also just stick Lightning Cannons on all of them as those are probably the best gun all round. The Venator's gun is scary but its range is short. The Lightning Cannon can effectively engage infantry as well as tanks, though it does have issues with targets in cover.
