Hi all. Old school squat fan here. I’ve delved into votann over the last year but must admit it took a while to warm to them - some models I liked, others less so. The ironhead models I instantly loved and the more models they put out the more it’s seems feasible to do a proxy votann army with them. My thoughts:

Kahl = claim jumper

ironkin = charter lord / nomad hunter

Warriors = prospector gang / mining laser

Hearth guard  / champion = exo kyn

pioneers = svenotar

land fortress = skalvian

vartijan / bounty hunters =??

these all seem like a reasonable proxy save for the ones at the bottom. The prospector gang and exo kyn options would allow some reasonable proxying.

curious to hear others thoughts.

Thanks for the replies folks. I think that the weapons are quite limited in the ironhead box - you could use the pistol and hammer for the theyn and the two main guns can proxy for the bolter / ion weapon, it’s the heavy weapons that may be a struggle. The exo armour has no ranged weapons as far as we know either plus no heavy weapon option for the trikes.

Speaking of limited kits. Looks like they just released a Squat upgrade sprue! - https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-us/articles/ukbfrfwf/the-ironhead-squat-prospectors-throw-open-the-halls-of-the-ancients/

A gift from the Ancestors!

I think the only things you're really "missing" an Ironhead option for in the main range is the Cthonian Berserks and the Thunderkyn.

Equally the Exo-driller doesn't have a direct comparison in the LoV range currently.

very cool and tempting... squats or do I get the kill team starter, so tempted by squats and I have zero intention of playing necromunda

Maybe the Thunderkyn? It's on the large side (50mm base vs 40mm base) but both have a Heavy Bolter (well, Bolt Cannon) option and the Flamer could proxy as a Conversion Beamer if you don't think about it too hard. Technically the shoulder-mount on the Exo-Driller is a Graviton weapon too, so that could work for the Graviton Cannon (though you'd be ignoring the two hands).
