I feel like we should have a thread for this with the new edition being out for a little bit now.

We've had S1B1 of KT24 release already (Vespids vs Tempestus) and S1B2 announced (Ratlings vs Tankbustas).

If we're following the KT21 model, then we should be getting 2 more Boxes in this season and 2 seasons after it.

Feel free to speculate on what Factions might be receiving Killteams, what sort of Terrain we might get, where future Killzones may be and discuss any rumours that may surface about future Killteam products.

Haven't really heard much in the whispers of the warp but more imperial teams... that seems to be their fav for whatever reason. I know some people want Nids and I don't blame them but I don't know if that is even in the cards right now.

To be fair, I did not expect Nurgle, so that was a nice surprise. Orks got their replacement. So I would look to the season 1 teams that are getting retired and see who is going to be left without a team in 1 year for classified and that is where you are likely to see some team added.

Nids have been mentioned in two different Volkus/Chalnath related community lore posts, with compendium gone I wouldn't be entirely surprised if they got a release at some point.
I think we might see a new eldar box (swooping hawks or warp-spiders) vs a chaos force (Marines or demons of from flavor, maybe noise marines with daemonettes?)
I think Tau will get either a fire-warriors or stealth-suit team at some point, though maybe not this season, I also think we'll see a "real" sisters team sometime soon as novitiates are phasing out soon.

The biggest mystery to me is what the 5 operative kill team is going to be. The Kill-Op has a tracker for a 5-operative team but so far there are no legal 5-operatives teams in the game. Not entirely sure what could be on the horizon for that one

The following factions have no team as of the switch to KT24:

Custodes, Deathwatch, Grey Knights, Daemons, World Eaters, Tyranids, Divergent LSM (Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Space Wolves, Black Templars)

The following factions (and Subfactions) will have no team in the Classified list after Season 1:

Sisters of Battle, Non-Auxiliary T'au, Black Legion/Generic CSM, Corsairs, Traitor Guard, Harlequins, Thousand Sons, AdMech, Non-Guardsman Genestealer Cults, Rogue Traders.

Personally, I hope TSons get a new Killteam sometime in S1 or S2.
There's been a bit of Speculation going around about WE having a team upcoming as I mentioned earlier and I saw a few suggestions between the forums here and Reddit that EC might be having a unit held back from their release to become a Killteam.
If those are true, then with DG getting a KT24 team with the new Starter set it'd mean TSons would be the only Cult Marine to not have a Classified Team from S2 onwards.

In terms of other KT's, I'm assuming we're gonna get Imperium Bias again.

I can see Deathwatch getting a new Primaris KT, possibly timed to go with their Digital Rework in December.

Also for the 5-Operative Killteam, I would guess either that's our Custodes team or the long requested Terminator Team (that could be the way GW updates Assault Terminators too).

I kinda hope terminators don't make it into KT, mostly because I don't know where they would fit in the design space. Custodes had a 2+ save, Rubric's have one now, I don't know how you express the tankiness of terminator armor above what is currently out there.

Noise Marines would be a real treat, I'd love to see that line get refreshed and they're weird/unique enough to slot into Kill team pretty easily. That being said I don't really think each faction/sub-faction needs their own team, cause then we'd never get stuff like ratlings or vespids

What would you want from a new 1k sons team? Feels like Warpcoven pretty much checks all the boxes

I think that for terminators (or crisis suits, stealth suits, etc) to work they need to be on a team almost like gellerpox, 2-3 powerful models and a handful of support models/troops. That being said, who knows! Maybe terminators will be the tiny team and there will only be 5 of them?

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm going to speculate on something else instead:

I think that GW will release a narrative mode in a separate book. It will do things differently than Spec ops did; some elements of it will be excellent, but some of the things we loved about spec ops will be missing. Overall, it will be better than the utter lack of campaign that we have right now- good enough that I might buy it- but not as good as Spec ops.

If they do this, I'll think about KT 24; if they don't,  the game is dead to me. And if KT 27 makes the same stupid mistake and disregards narrative campaign play, it will be equally dead to me.
