Redsun
How are people using chaos spawn? I've tried to make them work, but at their current points and maximum model count of 2, they just seem too vulnerable, they usually just get plinked off by small arms fire. In their previous iteration, they were somewhat useful as they could fully regenerate their wounds and be used for secondaries, but with OC 0 they can't even do that. So anyone have any success with them? And if so, what tips can you give? HeadlessCross
They're pretty bad. I'd MAYBE take them if I could group them as 4 man squads, but they don't even get that. You might as well just take Cultists every time. Dr_Ruminahui
I agree with both your takes on them - they had a real role in the previous codex as a general annoyance unit, objective grabber and action monkey, but they really don't do any of that now. Their OC decrease ability is interesting on paper, but rarely relevant - this is an edition where you kill things off objectives to take them, not one where you generally have a large scrum grinding each other away until you swing the ballance of OC your direction. Plus, in the rare occasions where that does occur, the very short range of that ability and the relative large foot print and flimsiness of the unit means its pretty easy to kill in the few instances where it being alive could make a difference. So not a big fan this edition, which is a shame, as they were a lot of fun the last one. INKS
Khorne lists often take them to push up early on a flank and harass an objective Tsons and sometimes DG uses to use them as well. In DGs case the spawn are faster than they are. I'd haven't looked to see who is using them competitively but I am sure they have some use. they were being used before the last point increase. I went and looked at recent lists. Tsons still use them as do Khorne. DG have moved on to wardogs. But they are used more or less like I said above. you do not expect them to live too long, but they are there for the early game. Brother Nathan
Too sad for me to consider. They definately needed something more to be worthwhile when we have a few fast cc units that already do more. The flesh is weak. Iron within. The Cult Legions' Spawn still have OC 1 and Regenerating Monstrosities, like the CSM Index had. We'll see if that survives their Codexes.
