I know mega nobz are the obvious choice on the surface, but they’re missing deep strike and a built in invuln.

so I submit our real terminator equivalent are killer cans.
solid melee, with decent shooting, low save, and an invuln. Minimum and maximum sized units even have the same number of wounds available as their terminator counterparts.

only thing missing is the deep strike capability

I see your Point... but really, Not all armies need an Equivalent opposite  ... Deep Striking Tanky Orks... Too scary   you don't want a broken army now do you !?...

that reminds me I need to get back to painting my Ork boyz soon ...

You're entitled to yours, but I'm still going with Meganobz.

Here's why

Killa Kans are Vehicles, so there's a lot of interactions that are either vehicle or  infantry specific which they don't share with terminators.

Nobz and Terminators can attached a character which in later editions changes the interactions available and body guard a character.

Nobz don't have a Inv save, at least for 4 out of 5 terns as you've already identified but they can access an invulnerable save via a Big Mek, though it is for shooting only.

In terms of lore Killa Kans are (usually) unwilling grotz that are surgically wired into a machine for life. This puts them more closely resembling a dreadnought than a terminator.  This is also reflected in their keywords.

They fill the same niche as terminators in game

KiIla Kans are larger than Terminators. They fall into the same niche as Paragon Warsuits and maybe SM Centurions.

Terminators are still definitely Infantry, and not even the largest or toughest at that. Custodians and Wraithguard both weigh in higher than Terminators. Orks TEQs are definitely Meganobz. They are high toughness 3-wound Infantry with a 2+ save that can fit in a Transport. The lack of an Invuln or DS does not mean that they are not the closest thing in the codex.

Kanz are as much infantry as wraithguard save the keyword.

The keyword is literally what makes them not Infantry. :ermm:

And they could change that at any point. 11th may remove keywords completely.

Quite. It's a Gretchin "Dreadnought" as opposed to an exo-suit.

What’s the difference between a Kan and power armor exactly?

When one thinks of a Physical and/or mental image of an Ork equivalent to a terminator...  Mega Nobz is the first thing that pops up, I'm not thinking stats wise or anything like that,

just simply what I feel represents that archetype of a Terminator... a Big Hulking brute encased in extra plate armour.... with some heavier than normal weapons.

A little crazy weedy grot wired into a permanent "sarcophagus"/“Trashcan” and embedded into a Powered Machine invokes thoughts of A Dreadnought...albeit a smaller one
