Gillyfish
Well, it's nice to know someone else paints at a similar speed to me... Wait, what do you mean that he hasn't only just finished models bought in the 90s?? More seriously, that's a lovely force. I had quite a few of those models myself, once upon a time. Nice to see them and to see them place in a competition alongside more recent models too. Evil Eye
There's some really stellar entries in there full stop; Oliver Threlfall's Black Templar display really got me with the tribute to the 3E cover. But yeah those Iron Warriors are absolutely fantastic- also top marks for using an RT Predator and Land Raider, those things are rare now! The Praetorian of Inwit
Cool to see the retro stuff, I do like those classic Rhino's. They would have looked even better painted in the colours of the VIIth Legion instead of those Iron Losers but hey ho Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/384538-ach-the-nostalgy-of-the-early-90s/#findComment-6074800 Share on other sites

I'm sure they're unharmed and just stoically waiting for the right moment to strike. Cactus
I always felt there was something off about the Deimos' silhouette. Now I know what it was! Moonstalker
I wasn't in the hobby in the 90's, I was too young - but my parents would take me to the gaming store in town, where they got their D&D books and other goodies, and I'd look at the Warhammer displays under glass. I didn't understand anything about the game, but the models were cool. I can still remember the diorama they had with a Land Raider and Marines vs Orks on rolling grassy fields under glass. It was a pretty big influence in me getting started with the hobby in the first place later on. apologist 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/384538-ach-the-nostalgy-of-the-early-90s/#findComment-6076321 Share on other sites

apologist
(Someone mention Retrohammer? :p) I did a little review on that, which is here, if you'd like a look. DuskRaider
I always imagined Marines bonking their heads on the bar when they jump out. I love Zinge, their bits and bobs have come in handy over the years for Orks and whatnot. roryokane, Emperor Ming and apologist 2 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/384538-ach-the-nostalgy-of-the-early-90s/#findComment-6077222 Share on other sites
slitth
Sometime I wish I hade to skill to D3 model the old version of Space Crusade marines and make the primaris size. Maybe make use of magnets for weapons and power pack for ease of painting and weapon swaps. And if one remove the heads and pauldrons, you could even make use of upgrade kits. Ohh well, one can dream Domhnall 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/384538-ach-the-nostalgy-of-the-early-90s/#findComment-6079407 Share on other sites
