Mortian Experience

Hi all,

I was wondering what kind of experience people have had with Mortian's printed products.

I notice that any of the 3d prints (such as the mini crawlers) are listed as being "pre-cured" which means that "you must put the models in UV light for half an hour (sunlight also works but might take longer depending on the UV intensity of your location) to fully cure."

Has anyone ever had to do this and what was your experience of the process?

I've only bought one but it came still encased in the big mass of supports and I had to spend a good long while (at least an hour) cutting everything out from there.

It was all cured fine, no problems there.

How long ago was this and what kit was it?

A few months ago, September I think. The mbt. Pic of it in my gallery, but only painted.

As far as I could see it was just scooped straight out of the printer and shipped like that, had all the supports and goop still attached, which is a lot of extra work to detach all the parts since everything is encased in one huge resin mass. Plus cleaning/sanding all the contact points or whatever they're called.

It's a really good model, I like it. But it is a bit of a hassle.

Thanks, it does seem like a huge amount of work, which is putting me off

Well assembling the model is part of the fun.

I got the MBT which is the slightly bigger variant. There is also a 'Medium' chassis that he uses for his Chimera equivalent and artillery and so forth. That one is smaller and has a Russ configuration too.

The one I got could be assembled as a Russ or a Dorn and you get all or most of the weapon options so I have loads of spares.

Should also keep in mind that if you're proxying a Dorn he has a 'triple' turret that includes some of the nipple stubbers and pintle gun options all together, since there isn't a position to put any nipple guns on the default MBT. I had to glue some of the spares onto the side as you can see, since I got the Russ turret, I think.

The turrets need to be purchased separately from the chassis on most of his tanks, but not all.

It's not as big as a Dorn and it's significantly bigger than a Russ though. so it might present difficulties in a game because it a very different size and shape to both of the GW tanks.

Here is my MBT with a Russ and another printed tank.
