Army Painter has announced some additions to their new Fanatic paint line -- Master Class paints endorsed by John Blanche -- https://us.thearmypainter.com/pages/safety-test

This may have been a premature announcement for paints due in 2025.  Clicking the pre-order button on the web page doesn't work. Also, "safety-test" is an odd entry in a URL.

As a fan of Blanche's art work I am glad to see that he is still active in the hobby.

Says 404 error to me, mightve been an internal error from army painter as in someone published the page too early.

A Blanchitsu inspired color line sounds great, John is an absolute genius.

I'm guessing we won't be seeing any fluro tones and pastels in there  ... Sombre Dark Colours supported by Dirty dark colours with a splash of Gritty dark Colours ....

M.

The URL works for me.  Note, however, the "US" and "safety test" in the URL -- may be a mistake by Army Painter and/or only viewable in the US.

I should have added -- They are predominantly dark colors, as would be expected from John Blanche

@redmapa, For me, visiting from outside of the US, I first had to confirm that I wanted to go to the US store.

At the top of the screen, there is this bit:

Based on your location you have been directed to thearmypainter.com

Do you want to go to us.thearmypainter.com?

I had to click on the link to go to us.thearmypainter.com.

After that, I was able to overwrite the last part of the new URL with "/pages/safety-test" and see the page in question.

Tempting but I've got an ivory and an ice yellow which isn't far from moonbeam yellow.

colors seem to be two different sets.

I know the fanatic line from army paint is MILES above their old line. very good paint

Some nice colors, there.

Some interesting colors here! This definitely looks like "Blanche!"

Those reds look good. Tainted Garden looks like a solid drab green, but I would like to see it in their green lineup to see the differences. Also would like to see how that gold color looks in real life.

I've had some terrible experiences with army painter in the past when I got back into the hobby (10ish years ago) and never looked back at them. Are they comparable to Scale 75 and vallejo paints nowadays?

I also had awful experiences with them in the past, and avoided them for years and years. But their new line is a massive improvement. I still haven't used any spray paints (and don't plan to), but I do think their regular paints are comparable to Vallejo in quality.

Their speedpaint metallics are also my favorite metals right now.

Challenge for 2025:

Start a new skirmish warband and use only those Blanche colours on them.

Warpaints were very not good back in the day, so the turnaround with their new Fanatic line was wild. Went from "do not touch, ever" for me to using at least some Army Painter paints on every army.

Recently painted an army of droids from a faraway galaxy, and the main paint scheme was Broadsword Silver speedpaint with Shining Silver drybrushed over top. It was awesome.

Fanatic is suitable for purpose now, yeah, even if they got rid of my favorite paint in the old range with Necromancer Cloak. Not really an equivalent to it AFAICT, just close matches.

But yeah, returning to the main topic, the old man needs the money, I got the money, and I do quite like that turquoise and Fiery Vermillion. Maybe.

Challenge accepted.

I have ordered the new Kill-Team starter set. Once it arrives the Primaris will be of course painted in my usual IH scheme but the new Death Guard models might be good candidates for this Blanche paint set. They are less than ten models so it won´t be taking too long to finish them.

I think I would rather create my own Kill Team in the style of the master himself, probably some Dark Mechanicum and most likely not even game legal, but a fun exercise nonetheless. Much like I’ve done in the past.
