Overall I think the Krieg stuff is really cool, but it has some seriously weird gaps; we finally get another mounted leader who isn't Lord Solar... but it's another named guy when we are all clamoring for ANYTHING that is just a normal leader of men within the Imperial Guard; there's just no real good reason why an army that's based around the idea of the tide of humanity is so laden with named characters while ALSO being so light on un-named leaders.

The Combat Patrol will probably make those without any Rough Riders or Kasrkin happy, but the inclusion of a Cadian Command Squad which can't attach to anyone makes the box look like an obvious "Hey, here's some stuff to get you tempted, now you've gotta spend some serious money to run a real force", whereas Spearhead tends to feel like "Hey, here's a start to the army, anything you buy after this will probably be good, even if it's more basic guys and not anything crazy."  Kinda weird that AoS and 40k have such divergent feelings for their starter gameplay mode, despite having a lot of similarities.

 

The codex art for the limited edition is dope as hell.  I'll probably be getting one.

The 30k reveals were exceptionally mid by most measures.

 

But 30k's measure is so low atm that I am actually very pleasantly surprised tbh.

 

Gotta say though, as someone that got into 30k because I love the concept of several deviations from the same baseline, the lack of Legion specific stuff for some time now has just been kinda sad.

 

The closest thing was some named characters a while back which sort of just take away the 'your dudes' element, a bunch of guys defined by leaving their legions or being protagonists...

 

I might just be the weird one but I honestly could care less about even a new Primarch sculpt. Give me legion specific praetors and units, the actual components of the identity of a legion company that isnt a protagonist.

 

Even the Solar Stuff or the Mechanicum, give me some doctrine-specific stuff!

As regards 30k, they told us more tanks and walkers were coming and lo, the alternative build for the Deredeo and some more SA tanks. They're all nice, but slightly underwhelming because they're just in plastic. Arvus is gorgeous though.

 

And the Kreig are a try beneath the posts. I can't afford or justify another army, but good God Emperor they tempt me.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but the "Grotsmas Calendar" is a bunch of new Tourney Legal detachments for 40k.

They've also said that Daemons is getting 4 of them, one for each Chaos God.

Now... if Daemons were getting a Codex, wouldn't the Detachments in that book be the 4 God Detachments plus the existing Mixed one?

If that's not more fuel on the "Daemons aren't getting a Codex" fire, I don't know what is.
