Newman's Anno Dracula series is a must, and probably the most critically acclaimed (after/alongside Adrian Stravinsky), though he was never really a full "BL" author.

Please don't hurt me...

I know he wasnt a BL writer and he wasnt beloved by the community, but I really enjoyed Matthew Ward's Legacy of Ash Trilogy (Ash/Steel/Light).

I actually did read a lot of Abnett's work, even his Doctor Who books and listened to the couple of Big Finish audios he wrote (which are all a bit meh, I am still a bit miffed they did not let him write about the Time War) and also many of his comics. I loved his Alien vs. Predator comics so much, I even have the action figure of "Ahab" (the Yautja Elder who becomes stranded along-side the humans and then has to work together with them to survive) on my nerdy collection shelf.

I got "Dogs of War" by Tchaikovsky for my Kindle, but have not read it yet.

I did read a few books of other, less regarded authors who write for different franchises, however, these books were pretty bad / paint by numbers.
