So I had a few questions.

1: Hand of the Archon from kill team, does this unit or team have a 40k use or entry? If it does, then why does no one use it? I've been looking at lists and never see it. Unless it's called something else.

2: Some of the models are older at this point and at some point 2025-2026 there might be a refresh or at least a few models to be refreshed.

What are some of the oldest models in the range? What in your opinion needs to be replaced now and not later?

3; The reverse of 2. What are the new models in the range. Minus mandrakes since they are clearly the newest.

I am not concious thst the hand of the Archon got rules, but it may deserves a check. Edit: checked that there is not a single stuff in the Index, neither as unit nor as options for kabalites...

The most recent models are, if I am correct, the Succubus, the Incubis and Drazar. Plus the Venom.

May be some of the Haemonculus too. Edit: see link bellow, and forget my ranking.

The oldest are probably the line units, Kabalites and Witches, Motojets and Hellions. And the raider platform. Edit: I was not that bad...

The models that need to be redone are IMHO the court of the Archon, the Beast master and Hellions. But this is based on personnal tastes.

Edit: https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Miniatures:_Dark_Eldar for miniatures vs issuance year. It is full of surprises...

Thank you for the link, super helpful. The 2010 models probably all need to be redone at some point.

I am a little surprised that the hand of the archon models aren't used somehow in the army but I guess they just haven't been wrapped in.

Some probably. Yet, the scourges are still very decents. As for the kabalites. If redoing them is leading to the same kind of result as for Aeldari guardians, I would may be not be that convinced. Sure the revisit improved the ergonomy of the mini for their assembly, but that is all. Except going to base size increase too...

I would say, "solve the resin issues first". But if they redo a more recent charater such as the Archon, for something less dumb looking... Fell free GW.

Tiping on mobile is always challenging...

which models have the resin issue

As of today, none. But for the sad reason of range rotation: Court and Beast master cannot be bought from GW until further notice. I think the Grotesque and Urien Rakaeth are resin too. These are for main stream minis. The FW minis do not count. Even if it leaves  maybe only the Tantalus... until it being restocked, if this happens some day.

Indeed. Or at least I believe it will be the case. Yet, which form will it takes? Redone stuff? New stuff? Resurrected entries (Adrubael vect)?

I think there were some rumours if new Pirate/Corsair stuff for Aeldarii. Could these be new Dark kins and not Voidscarred's friends?

I’ve been wondering if the void scarred were an indicator of where GW might have taken the eldar and dark eldar post-Ynnari had they blown the setting ala End Times.

It is a question indeed. From a design point of view I would say no, as Corsairs are too close from craftworlders. The small incursions in the Dark kin way of life remains limited to a few weapons. It is almost anecdotical.

Rule wise, they are may be bridging concepts: the scout rule is something that may complete well  main pointy ears factions without denaturing their respective features. Yet it is a little bit weak to become a signature rule. Too weak to be worth a full faction concept under 10th.

Rules of old for corsairs made them specific, picking up some stuff here and there: jetbikes, scourges proxy, bouncing walkers and deepstrikers. But now that they are solubles both in milk and coffee, these rules of old are no longer attractive. If plan is aesthetic between the 2 main factions and an intermediate tactical role (let s say guardian type heavy but closer of dark kin mobility), it might work if Anhrathes stop being cross over units for both Asuryanii forces. If they are a force on their own, it may be different...

At the moment, I do not see what corsairs bring to each force, except this scout rule. Otherwise they are not really bringing new options that are not already covered by other battleline units available.

I feel like the corsairs in a perfect world are the pirate faction from Altoic? I can't remember the craftworld right now. It talks about some of them being pirates but that isn't a thing we really get expressed much in the model range. Maybe it was Yriel and Iyanden. Either way, they are the elder pirates right? a detachment of them would be cool.

I have a feel that the dark eldar or drukhari would have just been squatted to solve a few problems, but that’s off topic. I’ve bought several boxes for conversions and use them in not 40k, so I don’t know their current game role.

they do adhere a lot to old post-craftworld intro artwork which is fine by me. The forge world incarnation seemed more like the rogue trader version of eldar.

Im not sure what I’d like to see replaced. I’m not into the third edition units or characters. I would like to seem some new characters rather than resculpts. I’d like new kabalites, but they’re far down the list for most players.

I am sort of just dipping my toe in. So for me, I guess I will start with buying the newer units and by the time I catch up (I am super slow) then they should have something new. lol

In terms of kill team - Hand of the Archon is pretty good balance wise right now. - just as an aside note.

That kit makes me think kabalites part of the line is a safe buy for a while. I found it tempting, but think the Corsair kit is better unless you’re playing KT of course.

Indeed, Wytches are probably more at risk of being redone.

As for the Corsair kit, I just bought one, so I will tell in  few weeks how they fit. One of their advantage is that the the box is full of spare parts, meaning you have a lot of bits for kit bashing. As I already have enough guardians and kabalites for my Ynnarii force, as well as a lot of ooP guardian sprues, I plan doing some characters and extra units Combining bits. Corsairs are maybe not Tier 1 unit in my opinion, but they can bring interesting MSU scout units. And I will clean my pile of shame...
