Galron
My friend found me some STLs for the Gorgon which got me thinking abotu picking my krieg back up. While those two monstrosities are printing(its easier just to print each plate twice in a row) I am working on my old scheme. Ill post a pic when I get happy with the final product. Currently working on two Krieg Grenadier squads to have them count as Kasrkin in one of my lists. I have no issue playing legends so I am. The Gorgon list is the fastest for me to get operational and maybe by Thanksgiving weekend and my games up at my home town I will have the Gorgons built even if I am subbing in Praetorians as Kriegsmen for now. 2k Mobile Mechanized Assault list 2 Gorgons both with 4 heavy bolters and 2 stubbers 1 Tank Commander Demolisher Line Breaker- grand strategist enhancement- , heavy stubber Regimental enginseer Leman Russ Exterminator- 2 plasma cannons, HK, heavy stubber Rogel Dorn Macarius Vulcan- the "Big Mac" 3 x 20 Krieg guardsmen 2 melta, 2 plasma, 2 sgts with plasma pistols and power swords Scout Sentinel lascannon Pretty simple list when it comes down to it. Four really big tanks, lots of firepower that is deadly to both enemy infantry and armor/monsters. Most importanly, it will look really frikkin cool on the table once its all painted. The Gorgons are the only thing currently missing from the list as it stands now. aside from actual Kriegers who I will be printing after I do the drills for the next list. I might drop a krieg squad for something else, either more sentinels or maybe an Armageddon pattern Medusa for some indirect. Its 130 points to spend. Only reason is they dropped the transport capacity on the gorgons from 50 down to 30 :( I guess technically I could split the 20 man squad into two ten mans and have them drop off and take "safer" objectives. 77th Siege Assault trench Fighters Cadian Castellan 3 Death Korp Marshals 5x20 Krieg Infantry Field Ordinance Battery- I want to do the missile system, it just seems cool. Heavy Weapons Squad 3 mortars 2x Heavy Weapons squads lascannons 2x 10 Kasrkin- 2 melta, 2 plasma, 2 power swords, 2 plasma pistols(I know they get more gear, I will have to stick a Melta mine on someone, a sniper rifle just doesnt fit.) 2x Colossus Mostly a vanity pick, I have them, they arent "terrible" even if they arent good. They do look cool though and are nasty vs vehicles and monsters. 3 Hades Breaching Drills 2 Kasrkins and a regular squad will ride here. Should provide some fun fairly hard hitting DS. This list lacks in AT so I might swap the FO battery for the heavy lascannon version and control a fire lane. I wish we still had engineers. They were super cool units and models. I typically do not use named characters, as they shouldnt be in the game except in special scenarios. I make exceptions for very minor characters who do tricks but not really impact stuff or in armies where you literally have to take them. Shrike for the former who cant fight his way out of a wet paper bag and Lucius for the latter who GW doesnt give you a choice in the matter on. Guard dont have any of these characters. I have found with Guard redundancy makes up for the reduction of super order characters, especially in vehicle heavy armies. Galron
The paint scheme of my guys. It's not original so I am not taking credit for it. I haven't seen it in over a decade though and I have no idea who it was or what forum I saw the original scheme on. I think it was done in GW Foundation Paints if that dates it so I had to try and redo it in modern paints and contrasts even over some individuals I already had done. These are original FW grenadiers I will use as Kasrkin. Next up is the four plasma guns for the two squads and a few hotshots. For now. Who knows, while I am not a fan of the new engineer models and know some STLs I like better, maybe the rules will make them worth it after I finish printing my Gorgons. Galron
Ill just use it as Legends. Same as I am using the Gorgon currently. I do really like the artillery pieces though, those are pretty awesome looking. UtariOnzo
You mentioned about losing engineers, but they are coming back. It was one of the previewed units! Galron
I dont like the new ones. They look like Grenadiers and not like Engineers. Plus they are almost 100% going to be sized like the new Krieg infantry which are a bit too big compared to the old ones. Either Station forge or Red MAker have some good Engineer STLs that fit the proper aesthetic. I also havent heard yet if they can be taken in squads of 10 or only 5. EmprahsStrongestGuardsman
One thing about the Stationforge models: I got some from two different sellers and it seems like those designs are by default oversized. Even next to 32mm scale they're too big. See attached for a 28mm, 32mm and a couple stationforge prints. I don't know if they're all like that, but you should make sure before you buy anything. Galron
They most definitely are. The DKoK models I am printing to match the size of the old FW guys I already have, which are smaller and less bulky than the new GW ones, I found on 3dcults and were free STLs. The only real thing that differentiates them from standard guys is the hose goes into a filter bag on their chests instead of over their shoulders and they have single rounded shoulder guards. No biggie. Even those I have had to scale down to 96% to get them the right size through trial and error. Its just a matter of remembering to set the scale correctly before you save the file and print.
