GreenWolf
Hello! I am a relatively new Warhammer player. Played quite a few battles with 1250 p. Now I'm putting together a 2000 p army with Space Wolves. However, I would need some tips and feedback. I have 295p left to get to 2000p. What more figures would I need? Should I remove any squad/character? Any ideas? This is what my army looks like right now (1705 p): 1705 points (right now) Space Wolves Champions of Russ CHARACTERS Bjorn the Fell-Handed (190 points) Logan Grimnar (115 points) Ragnar Blackmane (90 points) Wolf Guard Battle Leader on Thunderwolf (80 points) BATTLELINE Intercessor Squad (80 points) • 1x Intercessor Sergeant • 4x Intercessor DEDICATED TRANSPORTS Impulsor (80 points) OTHER DATASHEETS Assault Intercessors with Jump Packs (90 points) • 1x Assault Intercessor Sergeant with Jump Pack • 4x Assault Intercessors with Jump Packs Ballistus Dreadnought (130 points) Bladeguard Veteran Squad (180 points) • 1x Bladeguard Veteran Sergeant • 5x Bladeguard Veteran Gladiator Lancer (160 points) Infiltrator Squad (100 points) • 1x Infiltrator Sergeant • 4x Infiltrator Terminator Squad (170 points) • 1x Terminator Sergeant • 4x Terminator Thunderwolf Cavalry (240 points) • 1x Thunderwolf Cavalry Pack Leader • 5x Thunderwolf Cavalry Other figures/characters I have are: Murderfang 1 Squad Intercessor 1 squad Assault Intercessors 1 squad Assault Intercessors with jump packs 1 Drop Pod I can put Logan on Stormrider 1 Lieutenant 1 Captain I can also buy some new units. However, I prefer not to buy any more firstborns. TheNicronomicon
Are you trying to make a Competitive 40K Army™ or are you looking to have fun without worrying too much about THE META? From context clues I'm gonna guess the second option, and so any suggestions are predicated on that. I like your basic plan--you've got the lancer and dread for heavy shooting support, the infiltrators for your back line and screening out deep strikes, a couple decent melee threats with the assault intercessors, and the jump packs in particular make great action monkeys. I think you need another character or two and some more melee to capitalize on what Champions wants to do. You want a bunch of characters for Champions, so you're on your way there. Murderfang is always fun--he's A Problem your opponent has to solve pretty quickly, which is the kind of problem Space Wolves like to offer plus he's a solid melee threat. Wolves want to bring pressure, so you want to get as many models as possible across the table as fast as possible. Maybe look at Wulfen, if you're considering buying new models. With shields and hammers they're a real pain for the enemy and you can fire them into melee range pretty fast. If you're open to proxying, consider making your Terminators count-as Wolf Guard Terminators with storm shields and thunder hammers. Put Logan in charge of a brick of 5 or 10 of those things and they've got a lot of staying power. I would also consider dropping the Intercessors. Sticky objectives are great but that's really all they offer you in this detachment. If you're planning to use the Impulsor to ferry them around then cut that too. (If you stick the BGV in there, keep it.) I might also look at these two options: - Assault Intercessors count-as Blood Claws, lead by Ragnar, with a Captain in charge of the Bladeguard (ideally give the captain the shield and power weapon - Ragnar with the Bladeguard, and the Captain with the Assault Intercessors. The Captain is great for Champs--Finest Hour is what you want a Space Wolf character to do in melee anyway, and if you can pop it while a bunch of sagas an other buffs are going he's going to do a lot of damage on your go turn. looks good--good luck with it!
