Real quick, if a model has Stealth and joins a squad, does he confer stealth to the squad or it just becomes a non-rule until the squad is dead?

As per the box on page 20 of the Rules, every model in the unit must have the Stealth ability for the unit to benefit.  So in your example, it becomes a non-rule while the squad is still around.

 

I think much of the confusion come from models passing their keywords to a unit.  Stealth, however, isn't a keyword but a core unit rule, which don't get passed over unless the rule states so explicitly (which they generally don't).  In any case, like most such rules, the Stealth rule does the opposite and explicitly states every model in the unit must have the ability for the unit to benefit.
