DemonGSides
I like the custodes one purely for the design space of making character dreadnoughts without having a whole new datasheet. Tastyfish
There's definitely a hole where people's collections would have had more than one knight but not enough for a full army under previous editions. Two Questoris and 3 Armigers etc either being the allied detachment or bringing a smaller force alongside it. Makes sense in 10th that this is now first and foremast a Knight force to keep strat combinations under control, but I could definitely see something Brood Brothers-esque. Mind you that for future codexes, these detachment represents what their codex detachments dont do, by all means it could mean the other knight detachments coming up already do that.. so no point on doing that "again" ( for them, not for us ) now. 23 minutes ago, Tastyfish said: There's definitely a hole where people's collections would have had more than one knight but not enough for a full army under previous editions. People who got Forgebane for example ? Cant remember if back then knights where (also) part of the Admech codex or there was special hiring rules.. but that was just 8th edition, not too long ago. Tastyfish
They were actually in the AdMech book prior to Forgebane, the original Knight of the Cog etc. I think it was just Paladins and Errants then. chapter master 454
You know...that detachment for the IA would of been much better if it was something you could take as an ally in place or standard assigned agents...I feel like that should be something the Imperial Agents should of been. Each of the Ordos offering a unique ally you can bring. As it stands...sad. Custodes got some nice things. Now to see if knights get anything decent, here's hoping! sairence
I like the Assassins one. It should turn them into proper killers and just look really fun. It won't be a competitive thing, like some of the others, but...that should have been clear the moment they said they're doing an Assassins detachment. To be honest it suffers from the same issues as most agents detachments: they're not any good stand alone and if you ally them in, you can't take the detachment anyway. Back in 8th I ran a Knights force with a small detachment of Admech who were intended to represent Household Retainers. On the one hand, allowing a handful of infantry squads alongside a Knight army might be a bit strong by covering their main weakness of low unit count. On the other hand, I think that genie is already out of the bottle with Imperial Agents allowing a couple of infantry squads anyway. I can already proxy my Skitarii as Voidsmen at Arms. Indy Techwisp
Yeah, so Knights and Edgy Knights Detachments are just "Bring some dudes with your Knights." Looks to be Techpriests and Skitts with Loyalist Knights and the entirely range of Damned units for Chaos Knights. Wormwoods
1 minute ago, Indy Techwisp said: "Bring some dudes with your Knights." Frankly ideal. I don't know, or care, if this is a strong detachment, because it solves the biggest issue with playing against a Knight army: giving you something on the table to interact with. As a Crusade and casual player I salute this attempt to make Knights less of a hard skew. Bouargh
These knight detachments are quite nice. The allied units are limited sure, but the other all balance looks quite OK.
