Move Shoot Advance seems really good.

It certainly always worked well with shorter ranged Aspect Warriors like Dire Avengers and Fire Dragons. They could get in close, hose a target and pull back out of charge range. Longer ranged units could use it to hop out of cover, shoot and then duck out of LOS.

Sure, but aside from Banshees, has there ever been any lore justification given for that? Has it been said that because the arnour is ritualistic in nature it's meant to represent one of many sides of Khaine, a male deity, and thus it is masculine (without deeper connection to being male, unlike Banshees)?

Plenty of 'male' deities with female aspects or vice versa in real life. Dionysus and Aphroditus/Hermaphroditus, Loki, et cetera.

No argument it was effective, just that it was a little annoying to have what amounted to a second movement phase every round. It kinda just jacks up the micro on the user end and did lead to some NPE when you're shooting people and they can't shoot back. Adding the 5++ to Aspects is basically good enough that I was okay losing Battle Focus because it made movement more predictable and overall faster, so I'll be very interested to see what it turns into for the new 'dex. For whatever reason I can't imagine that we'll just get armywide move-shoot-move, but equally can't think of what else this might entail as yet. Like maybe it's still a move-shoot-move but only for a set number of units each turn...?

At the end of the day I also always basically felt like you could cut out most of the extra needed time and non-interaction by just giving some units higher ranges and/or movement values so they could, as you say, shoot once without guaranteeing a charge by survivors or just generally get across the board.

And then we look at current warp spiders and realize that the only thing keeping them even near the same ballpark as other units is that they need to see their target to shoot them... Basically if move-shoot-move like that comes back, I predict great gnashing of teeth. Spiders and Hawks have already been a bit of a meta problem for a good half of the edition, hopefully this doesn't bring those problems roaring back.

Cheers,

The Good Doctor.

Oh Man!!  Beautiful new models... It's been many years that I have sat back and Patiently waited to make a whole Army with all the phoenix lords and respective Units :wub::wub:+

The Time is Coming... O' Wallet where art thou ...

also, am i only one noticing that all phoenix lords seem to have same style of "chest icon/armor with corner straps" style going on?

That’s been the case since their 2nd edition incarnations, check out the old models and you’ll see the same design for each Phoenix Lord. GW have faithfully reproduced that detail.

My favourite aspect, in plastic. YES! I already have 12, but I'll be getting some more to fill out the ranks, as well as the PL.

I'm just glad they went with Lykhis over Lykhossidae, after Eldar Prophecy.

Don't think there's rumours of one atm.

Valrak spoke of a rumored that said the new Combat Patrol would have Spiders in it, along with Avengers, Wraiths, and a Spiritseer.

I don't think there's gonna be one. Maybe a battleforce but they didn't announce an army set like they did Krieg.

They probably won’t either until it is the next codex coming out

They announced everything else though. I don’t think Eldar are getting an army set for this release.

I don't think this vibes with GWs style of marketing but we will see. I could see a battleforce style coming out; maybe even 2-3 versions a la Imperial Agents style, where one is Jetbikes, one is vehicles, and one is Harlequins.

I just don't think there's gonna be a special edition codex and cards. They would've announced those with this show if there was gonna be.

24 Models all together.

I can't see there not being an army set to be honest but we'll see what happens when it becomes eldar's time to order.

Speaking of that, anyone else feeling a February window? Gives time for Knights in March and then EC can hit the beautiful soft spot of a spring release in April/ May

I said it in the eldar forum ( or maybe here ?)

Yriel+corsair seer+corsair jumppacks+Vyper (with corsair exclusive build.) sounds like an army set.

This not being all the eldar releases wouldnt be that strange, there are still plenty of preview chances to spread the hype over, however usually they indeed show, and release, such an army set before the rest hits.

But there are reasons why GW might show these first and not the boxset+contents yet if that boxset focuses on the corsairs :

- Because a loud minority of eldar fanbase can be quite toxic when GW announces new stuff that is not updated aspect warriors/PLs, showing these off first means that negativity cant outshadow new things. But I think even if not for this group, it might be a matter of reassuring people.

- Legal reasons ? by previewing them now they just barely hit their 30th year anniversary, this however doesnt make sense as Karandras isnt there.

- To stay ahead of leaks, Fuegan and Asurmen got leaked ( the latter not to the public.) and its not inconceivable that the phoenix lords are produced in a batch, meaning these two might not be the only ones accidentally shipped out, and GW has become aware of PLs in the wild, making this pre-emptive strike.

- Maybe the new Yriel has a dead emperors children on his base instead of a dead tyranid, and GW wants people to have seen living ones first. ( in GW fashion, completely forgetting about the regular codex cover.) not a very likely motivation though.

- Least likely; maybe the boxset isnt quite finished yet, or the marketing photography of it. ( after all, the combat patrol hasnt been shown off either and only very recently hit the rumorverse.)

To me the only thing that makes me very sceptical is an army set not being part of the same rumors ( wich always seems to have the existence of boxsets before their contents.)

Huge missed opportunity to not have a few of the spiders with these "warp portals" as alternate builds. It would be cool to have some poses that made the units feel more dynamic vs. four-armed, red-colored Fire Dragons.

GW has done some amazing sculpts with negative space, e.g., Light of Eltharion and Lady Olynder from AOS. The designs are good, big upgrades, but too static, IMHO.

I will be disappointed if that is the case. I am trying to remember if GW did an army box with Lt Ed Codex and Cards for all recent releases or not. I know they did for Dark Angels and Blood Angels who had a similar number of new kits in their release.

If they did a box with 1 of everything shown in the stream + Codex + Cards, I would be whipping out my credit card faster than you can say Rhana Dandra!

I think except the first 2 codexes ( necron and admech ) everything got a boxset, some got more ( CSM, Imperial agents).. dont think everything got a limited edition codex though, but Tau, Blood angels and Dark angels did. Every army also got a combat patrol shown in a preview show, also not shown here yet. Im 80% certain this wasnt the last eldar preview before the codex release.

Only a couple of armies have had the limited ed dex early drop treatment, most have had a battleforce on release of some kind, but these largely included old minis. Add to this the fact lots of those didn't fly off the shelves and some are still in shops, the Christmas boxes haven't flown off either and maybe they're learning to stop doing big boxes as often.

They wouldn't be able to act that fast. If they were making a change like fewer battleforces, we'd see it in a few years time. Remember, GW work in a 3 year pipeline, even in production.

While its not at all unthinkable that GW stops doing something that people consider a pattern halfway, or skip one army in such treatment, after all they do this all the time. I dont expect bad christmas box sales can have any effect on at least the first half of next years releases, its way too late for that to turn around. I dont even think this summers boxes sales would be in time to change any of that.

Besides, there are already rumors for the army box of a release beyond the eldar release.
