I like all the new models. Being rescaled is perfect and stops them looking weird. Means they now fit in with the rest of the armies.

But, I despise monopose. And the only design flaw I see with anything, which is the same I've been saying for all their pointy eared releases, the poses are all soooo static! Supposed to be super fast and acrobatic, but literally have less dynamic poses than fat armoured marines lol. Makes zero sense to me. Like at all.

Out of the whole army so far, the only dynamic poses are Jain Zar, and the new warp spider lord.... But if you ignore the warp lighting, she is just statically squatting over a very fancy tactical rock lol. (still a lovely model though)

Question - how out of scale are the Dire Avengers?... I should wait shouldn't I to see if they get redone ???...

M

Comparing eye-level heights, they are a tad shorter than the new scale but the tall helmets with crests give them a little more height that makes the difference less noticeable.  If you want to adjust the scale yourself, you can bash the Avenger arms, heads, and gubbins onto the new Guardian kits.

Thanks for the answers !,

I do like the Avenger helmets so I’d prefer to have em on

although I’m doing an old world orcs & gobbo’s army at the moment so that’s enough time with my glacial painting skills to actually have GW Do a new redesign of dire avengers before I’ve actually finished my army project

Personally I think the Dire Avengers still stand up pretty well. Here is one compared to the new Guardians. The scale looks OK to me. It is not like Eldar have crossed the Rubicon.

To Add to that -

The only difference between new Guardians and Avengers is the Avengers have a different helm (duh ), the shoulder sight gizmo? and the extra scope on their shuriken catapults right?... so could i swap some parts between Avenger kit and new Guardians ?... like putting new Guardian heads on Avenger bodies etc..

Cheers, M

One thing that makes me a little bit nervous is the future Ynnari detachment. I realuzed only today the "Drukhari units allwed will be in the codex" stuff. I anticipate a big reduction in units allowed.

If the units allowed are publushed in the codex I would probably bet on a limited rooster: kabalites, wyches, raider and incubis. Mostly because they are accessibke through combat patrol box and/or largely represented in paint guides. I am not sure the ravager will stay and I have many doubts about charaters. A succubus may stay, but an archon?...

Scourges, helions and reavers might disappear. Especially reavers as they do double use with harlies jetbikes or almost. Mandrakes may also look out of place, a little bit.

I wonder if my drukhari investments of 2024 will not end up being off the list in the end.

That image looks off to me, where did it come from? Have the two images been scaled to equalise the width of the base? If so, weren't the Dire Avengers on 25mm bases and the new guardians on 28.5mm? Meaning the Avenger is overscaled there?

Dire Avengers were introduced on 25mm bases but are currently provided on 28mm bases so the image should be valid. I hasten to point out that it is not mine, it comes from https://minicompare.info/. If they have taken an image from a 25mm base and rescaled it to 28mm then it would make the Avenger appear larger than it should but I don't think that is the case.

From left to right

dire avenger 25mm base

corsair 28mm base

dire avenger 32mm base

the last base is definitely taller than the first two which seem the same height.

to me, the dire avengers are about half to 3/4 of a head smaller. The avenger helmets obviously suggest more height.

YMMV and I’m sure it doesn’t bother most people.

Ah, righto. I'm pretty sure the pics from the GW website were never updated to include the larger base sizes. The fact that the Avenger's feet are already right up to the edge of the base in that pic adds weight to that. If the pic is of a 28mm base, then those feet would be hanging well over the edge of a 25mm base... I have some of the Avengers on the old 25mm bases and I think they look pretty much exactly like that picture.

But apart from anything else, the old Avenger actually looks LARGER than the new Guardian in that pic. Which can't be right, surely? I know the Guardian is leaning over much more than the Avenger, but things like the kneepads are also visibly larger/chunkier on the Avenger than the Guardian, the shoulders are higher, etc.

I'll have to get my models out when I get the chance later today and do a proper comparison pic...

EDIT: oh, nvm, The Yncarne has beaten me to it...

Thanks for that. The Avengers look a bit smaller but the tall helmet disguises it sufficiently I think. Also people are different heights anyway, Eldar probably too.
