Gorgeous miniatures. But there is one question I still can't answer until we see the rules: were all these new units really needed for AM?

What distinctive feature will the mounted minis bring to the game where we already have a cav unit (unless it is segregated in strategies a la Serberys Rangers vs. Sulphurhounds)? Will they stay as previous FW rules?

Same for all flavours of artilleries, Command and Engineers: all VERY beautiful, but I am not too sure yet about their intrinsic usefulness...

They’re awesome models! Is it the idea that you’ll use the kill team kit for regular Krieg infantry?

As for rules, I don’t think there honestly needs to be much difference in the rules, the models can be just an aesthetic choice for people who want to run Krieg instead of Cadian guard. After all, it wouldn’t be the first army with considerable overlap between models *cough* Space Marines *cough* :)

Big fan of most of this and, if it wasn't for the Empire released for TOW, might be sorely tempted. The Engineers and artillery look great, and the Commissar in the Command Squad they previewed is perfect. Nothing for me will match the aesthetic of the old Death Riders though, the emaciated cyber-horses in particular. But there are better than the standard Rough Riders IMO.

I've shared my ealry impressions in the other thread,  and after a second look with a cooler head, I didn't change my opinion. The Death Rider armour with a cutout for the rebreather controls is ridiculous.

We also have this little gem:

Phone rings. Speaker 1 picks up.

Speaker 1: [muffled noises]

Speaker 2: [muffled noises]

Speaker 1: [muffled noises]

Speaker 2: [muffled noises]

Speaker 1: [slightly louder muffled noises]

Speaker 1 hangs up.

There's a reason why FW radio troopers had the system build into their masks and helmets (so they could have helmets - stares on the new command squad):

And artillery crew:

Not that communication issue didn't use to be a thing, if one thinks about it, but in the old lore at least it was no biggie to remove a mask.

The conspicuous absence of Grenadiers from the release wave screams "Kill Team in the future" to me.

And what would be the difference between the old Grenadiers and the new Engineers aside from weapons? It would be a third loadout for the same kit (engineers, close combat, grenadiers), quite unusuall. If the Grenadiers were planned, I would expect the engineers to have a more distinct look. For me, the fusion of Grenadier aesthetic with Engineer weapons means, that there will be no standalone Grenadiers in forseeable future. Another hint that this is the case is that the Engineers will have the "Grenadier" special rule. Also, are they needed at all from GW persepctive, if the Tempestus Scions minis are around filling similar battlefield niche? They are supposed to be non-regiment specific, aren't they?

I bet getting hold of a Krieg set is going to be a nightmare. I'd base it entirely on whether or not you're able to precure one.

I'm fully expecting the Krieg pre-order to brick the website. It's gotten a bit sturdier for other pre-orders, but I don't think it can survive plastic Krieg.

Sure, but repeating schemes like that and then installing range rotation because there is no sufficient shelf or warehouse space... it is not really what I would call learning from errors. We will then see the Catachan removed from stock but maintained into the rules, making all extremely frustrating for gamers. Uselesness extensive ranges are not good IMO. Getting gorgeous new stuff like this should bring something gamewise. Something distintive yet reasonable. I ll wait and see for the rules.

I feel like even if they're not that distinct visually, they've been in such demand for so long that even if it's a very similar CAD with a Hellgun slapped onto it they'll be able to justify it. If it's a Kill Team they'll probably also have more visual diversity in the Specialists (look at the new Karskin kit compared to the metals for example), even if those same rules don't directly corollate to 40k.

Scions were a replacement for both Storm Troopers and Karskin, but they brought Karskin back presumably because the demand was there. With Kill Team being all about it's fanservicely kits - and the Veteran Guardsmen/Death Korps being one of the first teams to be rotated out - I think it'll happen, even if they have to diversify the design a bit to make 'em different to Engineers.

They were and are in demand and yet FW couldn't bother to remake the moulds once they broke (the reason why they went OOP). I don't have any hope for them, even if I would very much like to see the hellgun loadout in plastic.

Hope is a dangerous thing, but it's been pointed out elsewhere that the new Command Squad has what may be a Grenadier. He's very close to the new Engineers of course, so it may be reaching:

I'm with you on this. I really dislike 60% of this Krieg reveal, the only exception being the weapon teams. I don't think I will be buying any of this because this redesign basically shaved off everything I liked about the Death Korps with the Death Riders being my favourite thing in the whole line. Now I'm stuck with an incomplete resin squad of them because GW simply refused to sell them as a single bundle and never bothered to restock them regularly on the EU store.

The new Death Rider and Grenadier/Engineer armour is closer to things from Star Wars like the AT-ST pilot uniform and the plate armour worn by Imperial officers than anything resembling metal armour from both World Wars and French Cuirassier equipment.

I refuse to believe that these changes are anything but stylistic choice at this point because I've seen plastic kits in the Space Marine range and the Warhammer Underworlds range with nearly the same level of detail as some resin models. At this point I see no reason for buying any future Krieg kits, because they no longer have what I want. The only saving grace for new weapon teams is that they look the same as the kill team Kriegers released earlier which are compatible with FW replica third party conversion kits. The rest looks like it has no redeeming qualities, especially the command squad with the awful armour on the company commander.
