So straken and Harker gone, sentinels in units of 1-2 if my eyes do not deceive as a summary for anyone not having seen it yet.

Your eyes are fine, they are a max of 2 per squad unless it's a typo but I doubt it. Kind of sucks because I really wanted 18 Sentinels at some point, I'll just rejig 3 of 9 Sentinels as Scout Sentinels I guess.

60 pts for 5 horses and 35 points for 5 engineers? That's a tough ask for a newbie to join guard. Even if price per point isn't a big problem, hours of painting per point is a hard wall to climb over. That 1,000 point sample list they provided looks good and fun, but it might be ready by early 2026 if I started right now. Cavalry and officers aren't exactly easy paint jobs.

Normal guard prices. The engineers are probably a bit ridiculously costed, but 10 Cadians is currently 65 points.

You don't get into Guard because you love having money.

And the whole "Indirect can't hit better than 4+" doesn't come into play either.

Boy I'm sure glad they stopped those pesky Desolators!

Tbf, the Desolators weren't the cause of that indirect nerf. That was fully the Guards fault.

Desolators got the early increases in points to all indirect and then got their own personal curb stomping otherwise with the change to unit size.

Indirect change happened long after they fell out of favor.

Just saw the leaks and the Mechanized detachment seems OK in my opinion, nothing that screams power but perhaps I'm missing something, I do like that it buffs everything that disembarkd so you can put Ogryns in Chimeras so they can get the +1 to wound buff and not just infantry squads. Hammer of the Emperor has a bit of a weird rule with 6" advance and being able to push through engage range it kind of wants you to push forward as all the strats are going to matter when you're in the thick of it, I'm not sure about it but I like the idea of an armored breakthrough.

Ironstriders are still 3 in a unit, they once had an article where a guardsman boasted that Sentinels were 1-3 flexible compared to Paragons, and they have been 1-3 for so long

How dare they do this to us, to ME!

On a positive note, I am now 1 Sentinel short of the full sentinel list of my dreams. Hooray?

Artillery team is quite hilarious. The anti infantry rockets or the siege cannon that is as good at killing infantry but also hits other stuff. As classic as the initial Onager Icarus array/phosphor blaster comparision.

There's perhaps some interesting things with the mechanised detachment you might be able to do with a superheavy transport like the Crassus, as all the strats affecting units disembarking from transports doesn't specific what type.

Hammer of the Emperor also looks like it could be interesting with a mechanised component, as Catachans or Kasrkin in Tauroxes are going to be screaming 27" across the board on turn 1, further if a Tank Commander tells them to move, move, move.

Yeah the Hammer of the Emperor purports itself to be a Tank detatchment, but I think it's secretly the better mechanized assault detatchment at least in the main detatchment rule (Strategems and enhancements obviously make it clearer).  But being able to scoot your Chimera's way further out, and to also drive around units in close range, is gonna be pretty clutch in certain situations

Can someone share what the mechanized detachment leaks are?

im not seeing them anywhere I look

It's on the Astra subreddit and the Competitive Subreddit. While disembarking for a +1 to wound is good, the auto 6" advance in the tank detachment is sooooo good for transports and the Taurox Prime already grants a reroll to wound when disembarking. Plus they don't have the worst firepower anyway.

Also note Scions lost Deep Strike, which sucks super hard.

Scions lost deep strike?  Could it be an accident?  That was their point.

If aquillions have kept deep strike......then thats the reason:laugh:

Have you not purchased this unit new yet?

So, the new field guns are never going to use those multiple-missile things. However...the Siege Cannon and Heavy Mortar are looking quite nice. Same their only thing is giving battleshock but meh.

Personally thinking what I would like to run...lots of things to consider...only problem is I want 3 of those field guns...have 3 of those, 3 FOBs and go with the artillery detachment. Shell 'em til there's nothing but well tilled fields!

Considering Aquilons didn't have deepstrike on their card when they were first released I assume it's an oversight.

I see no logical reason why they would remove it from them when this is pretty much their whole identity. Without deepstrike they are just another variant of footslogging/mechanised shock infantry, which we already have in Kasrkin and now Engineers.

Seriously...it would remove that entire playstyle from the Codex...

Prop with the artillery is their base size, 130mm will almost be impossible to hide multiple of them:ermm:
