Which Heresy books to read before Siege of Terra series?

Hi.  Need a little help.

I've consumed the first 30 books in the HH series and started re-reading, intent on completing the Heresy.  Keen to start the Siege of Terra but I'm +20 books short in my HH collection.

When does HH stop and SoT start.  (Is all HH pre SoT?)

and..

Of the most recent 25ish books of Horus Heresy, what is considered required reading prior to starting SoT?

...and as a side note, did they do any/many/all the SoT in large paperback?

Yeah all HH is pre-Siege of Terra so far.

All these later novels, Praetorian of Dorn, Master of Mankind, Crimson King, Ruinstorm, Wolfsbane, Titandeath, Buried Dagger, Slaves to Darkness is all leading into the Siege of Terra 10 book series in, as does an anthology like Heralds of the Siege.

Yeah, if my memory does me justice they should all play before SoT (perhaps one or two short stories, that plays after).

So we are talking about the range of HH-books from 29 (Vengeful Spirit) - 54 (The Buried Dagger)?
29 - Vengeful Spirit (deals with Horus and how he may get the power to surpass the Emperor)

36 - The Path of Heaven (connects to "28 - Scars" and what happens with the White Scars)

38 - Angels of Caliban (connects to "11 - Fallen Angels" and what happens to the Calibanite Dark Angels + what happens in the Imperium Secondus (see "27 - The Unrembered Empire")
39 - Praetorian of Dorn (deals with the Imperial Fists and Alpha Legion)

44 - The Crimson King (connects to "15 - Prospero Burns" and deals with the Thousand Sons/ Magnus)

46 - Ruinstorm (connects to "38 - Angels of Caliban" and deals with Guilliman, the Lion and Sanguinius)

49 - Wolfsbane (deals with Space Wolves/ Leman Russ and Horus)

51 - Slaves to Darkness (deals with all of the Traitor Legions and their respective Primarch)

54 - The Buried Dagger (deals with the Death Guard/ Mortarion)

I generally agree with the above. Of the books from 30 onwards, you can probably afford to skip the following:

30. The Damnation of Pythos: Shattered Legions, no real impact on the Siege
31. Legacies of Betrayal: Short stories that can be skipped if desired
33. War Without End: Short stories that can be skipped if desired
34. Pharos: Story contained entirely within Imperium Secundus
35. Eye of Terra: Short stories that can be skipped if desired
37. The Silent War: Short stories that can be skipped if desired
40. Corax: Can be skipped if you are a Raven Guard fan as Corax is not at the Siege
42. Garro: Short stories that can be skipped if desired
43. Shattered Legions: They play no great part in the Siege
48. The Burden of Loyalty: Short stories that can be skipped if desired
50. Short stories that can be skipped if desired

To my knowledge there are 4 versions for the english language:
The limited editions, the hardbacks, paperbacks and ebook version.

In the German language, there are 3 versions:

Large paperback, collection and ebook version.

Friend, my read order for the Horus Heresy is to read the first three, then skip to the Siege. You'll be fine.

Although this is meant to be funny, it deprives you of major storylines and you may only understand half of what actually happens during the siege and why.

I strongly disagree.

You've all been really helpful thanks

Quick additional...  anyone happen to know if the Warhammer World store normally holds a decent selection of physical copies?  I'm thinking it might be worth a road trip.
