Kaede45
This may be a random ass question, but is there any consensus on which Warhammer mini is considered the most customizable model in the game? When I say “most customizable” I mean without too many major modifications, like shaving edges or cutting pieces. I suppose I should also clarify that I’m talking about what others think would be the best “base” model or which kit do you feel can fit most parts from other models without looking like Frankenstein’s monster? I would also recommend sticking to characters/unique/leader models & less generic grunts, though their parts should be considered for modifications. Subjective opinions are definitely welcome & I don’t feel a need to only consider one single faction. Anyways, I appreciate the discussion, thank you for your time & of course, God bless! Brother Carpenter
The humble first born marine, through all its plastic multi part editions. Everything interchangeable head swap, no wories, other arm/shoulderpad/weapon you got it. Saw some parts off and glue something else in place, done. Including converting regular guys to characters and vice versa. Damn shame they abandoned the concept with primaris. In retrospect i think the plastic orks also classify in this category for the same reasons. Karhedron
The new Blood Angels Captain has set a new benchmark for customisation out of the box. Excellent selection of weapons and you can switch the focus left or right easily. You also have the option of helmet, bare head or death mask. If you are using parts from other kits then it kind of becomes a moot point. I have been in this hobby a long time and I am not afraid to take a knife to a brand new model Firedrake Cordova, DemonGSides, Brother Carpenter and 1 other 4 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/384741-most-customizable-mini/#findComment-6079183 Share on other sites
Wormwoods
You can turn just about any basic space marine into any character model with minimal work and a half-decent bits box, and given GW prices it's something I heavily recommend. That Intercessor squad? That's 6 Lt's, 2 Captains, a Librarian and an Apothecary if you know what you're doing. Don't even need to convert, really, just kitbash. Evil Eye
The older (still in service) Ork Boyz kit is amazingly customizable. In fact, back in 3rd the idea was that every basic unit in the army (Stormboyz, Lootas, Burna Boyz etc) would start with the Boyz kit and be upgraded with metal packs and/or conversions! The Tyranid Carnifex is another one. Loads of weapon, head and carapace options plus a smorgasbord of extra parts means no two Carnifexes have to look the same even without conversions. SvenIronhand
The Eldar range is surprisingly customizable. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/384741-most-customizable-mini/#findComment-6079302 Share on other sites
sbarnby71
For me it's Reivers, I have built 50+ and none of them look the same (and I always mod my pieces). You can add any Primaris sized armour bit to them and you choose the right bit, it works. You can also chuck first born bits on without issues. They're also fully interchangeable (waist and head sockets, arm surfaces) with the contemporary WHFB (now Old World) Orc Boyz. Arikel
Totally in agreement with the humble firstborn marines. Pretty much up to 7th, nearly every plastic marine kit (so sm, but also chaos, SW, BA, BT, DA and GK) were completely interchangeable. I bought a number of chapter specific kits just for the cool bits to individualize my dudes, including building a librarian from GK parts, and a bike chaplain using Chaos bits. The added size and dynamism from the primaris kits is nice, but doesn’t make up for the sheer plethora of build diversity you could get with the older kits. Primaris are much more build to match the box art and require much more work to modify than the old dudes.
