The DA Inner Circle? They've been on sale all year though.

I checked to see if it was a joke on them being out of stock on the website but they're there. Maybe they meant 2nd place with the anniversary model not being available?

I don’t mean to whine or gripe…but what a weak year for 40K.  I looked at 2023 for comparison, and even ignoring the two Primarchs, their entire list stomps all 5 of the 2024 choices (the Ratling snipers aren’t bad).  Farsight, better.  Deathleaper, way better.

Anyways, seriously mediocre year.  2025 is already markedly better, with the Death Korps and Phoenix Lords on the way.

I hope 2025 is the year of the upgrade sprue. I wish they were even bigger, but if they could roll out similar treatments for all the non-aligned chaos legions, and the non-divergent chapters, I'll be a very happy camper. Primaris-ization is almost complete, now its time to max out the unique flavor of the chapters.

There was a post here a while ago saying rhe sculptor of those Night Lords was told to tone them down.  I wonder how they looked before?

The winged helmets were probably so ridiculously oversized that the models fell over. :teehee:

Looking at 40k models vs AoS, kinda glad they split it up to 40k, AoS and Specialist Games. 40k's stuff was kinda naff this year, and I do think upgrade kits (which there were quite a few of for the 40k and Specialist games) shouldn't have been on there. As nice as the Night Lords were, at their core they were the CSM squad with a extra sprue.

AoS had some rocking models though I threw my vote(s) behind the new Reclusians and the Griffon Lord (love me some Griffons, no matter the spelling). 40k, I voted for the Inner Circle because out of the very poor list they were the only ones that stood out to me. For specialists I'm glad the TS and AL models were on there as I quite liked them and if they could only stay instock long enough for me to buy them then I would.

Yeah, as harsh as it is on the designer of the Night Lords upgrade sprue who did a good job I don't think it's a crazy take to say it shouldn't have been an option, and I've no idea why anyone would vote for what is a pretty limited upgrade sprue for game of the year. Two of the other most highly rated models being limited editions, one being a very popular undersupplied model in the Celestian is very unfortunate. The Steel Rook also being one of the best miniatures of the year being nigh on impossible to get is another tragedy, I just hate how they're dealing with these limited releases.

With the 'Others' the lack of the gnome team being in the top 10 is madness, that was my overall pick for miniature of the year. I suspect it's due to them having a weird name, I had to google what they were actually called when voting as they didn't have anything labelling them as the gnomes blood bowl team on the choice list.

These limited releases should really be made as MTO at the end if the year or something, when it was 1 or 2 models it was a bit more understandable but there must have been at least 10 limited release models this year.

My main issue with this will always remain that different miniatures (eg those is Brand's oath bound, or those in a Munda gang, or a kill team, or whatever other multitude, etc) are grouped together - when in truth I might consider one of that set as a model of the year (but not the set).

It's also how they present it - a list of names, rather than images. Each could be hyperlink to a WHC or Warhammer store page, but more ideally there would be design images, sprue images, painted examples (beyond just the eavy metal one) and even commentary from Latham and the other designers about each. What is actually happening with the mini, intentions, etc.

I know that would be work, but it would be good work - and give the community even more of a sense of why each model (or set) is worthy of consideration.

And if they continue with categories they should really use more finesse - perhaps using the greater nuance of the Golden Daemon categories (ie by system and different intentions) - but id hope they'd actually split the boxes into component models.
