EmprahsStrongestGuardsman
I got a Krieg Commissar from Ebay, he has a fairly thin coat of paint on him. I was just wondering if nail varnish remover WITHOUT acetone is safe to use on this. If not I might just paint over it. Sothalor
Nail varnish remover still seems like it'd be harsher than I'd want to try (I don't have any proof or experience, just gut intuition here). I'd start with soaking the piece in a Simple Green solution first. I've had good results with Simple Green in the past when it comes to working with FW resin pieces.. Soak for an hour or so, give it a scrub with an old toothbrush, and see what kind of progress that makes. Re-soak and re-scrub as needed. Corswain
I've also had good results with Dettol if that's available in your country. Firedrake Cordova
Not answering your question directly as I've never tried what you're asking about, but I've seen others get good results from AK Interactive and Green Stuff World's paint strippers. I'm guessing that if you don't already have them, it makes the Commissar a bit expensive, but mentioning it just in case it's helpful. EmprahsStrongestGuardsman
Well I went ahead with it. I had a bit of FW resin spare, a chunk that bits of the Krieg command squad came attached to, and I dunked that in nail varnish remover for a while, prodded it every so often. It didn't go soft or flaky or rubbery. So I dunked the Commissar, his paint flaked off immediately and I quickly scrubbed him with a toothbrush, running him under water every 30 seconds or so. He seems fine. However, he now smells very strongly of perfume, so perhaps a bad idea overall suggesting as it does the nefarious influence of Slaanesh... Sky Potato
I dunked a Forgeworld resin gate in a tub of Biostrip as a test once. The Biostrip did nothing to the resin, there was no deformation, warping or damage to the resin - and Biostrip is brilliant at removing paint. Plot twist - they really are a follower of Slaanesh sent to corrupt your Krieg to the Dark Powers, and removing the paint released the smell ... have you got another Commissar or Inquisitor to watch over this one? EmprahsStrongestGuardsman
Worry not citizen, an application of the Emperor's Most Holy Undercoat Spray has sealed the Daemonic influence once and for all. Commissar Coconut Oil's faith in the Emperor is unwavering.
