The Feast of Extinction - Late Heresy World Eaters Oldhammer Project

I have a small mountain of (skulls) oldhammer and I have decided to use them for a Horus Heresy World Eaters warband. At this stage they have begun to experience the corrupting nature of chaos.

the first few are almost done

I’m using a very maximalist approach to these, using a variety of techniques and paints. Stippling, grisaille, technical paints, real metallics and more in order to create an updated version of the rogue trader style. 
the blueish tinge is an homage to the original secondary colour and to contrast with the red details

indeed it is. And here is another dose of it. I spent an afternoon getting most of the paint off these space crusade terminators and scouts. Plus some more marines for good measure

Pictured is how I achieve the corrupted white. Because the models are impossible to strip completely, I lean into the texture, so that remnants of paint gunk become warp mess. I also add crackle paint and baking soda. I spray the minis red then zentihal white. Next I paint them with iridescent medium and bone. I wash this with watered down fluro blue and corrosion. Then I highlight with white.

I decided I wanted a counts as Angron so I made this daemon out of some spare lead. Parts from lord of change, Trish carden Minotaur, Warhawk, dragon ogre, talos and flesh hound

I could see something like that being an "official" Angron in the heads RT days. Nice work

Underpainting on ‘Angron’ i used blood for the blood god, gun metal, corrosion, copper oxide paint and fluro blue over a zentihal black and white. Next step is true metals

Overpainted with true metallics and washed with thinned down bftbg. This is starting to look like a statue come to life

Thanks! I had such a good time making and painting him. I might even get to play with him one day!
