DarkChaplain
For my part, HH is entirely uninteresting so long as it is so utterly reliant on Forgeworld resin. That's what ruined Blood Bowl for me when they rebooted it. But I guess they might drop another tie-in anthology or novel like with 2nd edition? Still haven't read that one. Other than a proper new edition of Warcry, which they've repeatedly left out of reveal shows over the past year, indicating it is likely dead (despite supposedly being a fantastic game), I can't think of anything besides HH slotting into summer this year, either. ...then again, I really just want to see them unveil more AoS at Adepticon, particularly a new Spearhead board, cards & book with some new thematic Spearheads of armies they don't have slated for quick Battletome rollouts. Which the rumors would indicate right now, at least. What do you mean "you already own 8 Spearheads"? Don't judge me. That number is going up to 12 this year, anyway. I get the resin issue, I don't mind as much, but I get it. The big issue for me is the lack of options compared to a few years ago. Prior to the Last Chance to Buy purges of 208-19-20, you had all the units (Destroyers, Breachers, Despoilers, etc), all the MKs of armor available, as well as torsos/helmets/dreadnoughts/shoulder pads for each legion. Now it feels more half in/half out. They've barely put out the melee weapons upgrades a few months back which is arguably worse than the old one because all of the pistols are for the same hand and the same with the melee weapons. Dreadnoughts are this weird half resin/half plastic so you only get half the detail. Only have two MKs of armor. Terminators and all the special units are old scale, no torsos, etc. And then the Black Books, which for me at least, was half the appeal are a shadow of their former selves. I dunno if you had seen, but Warcry is now online only and it's been pulled from GW stores so I wouldn't get your hopes up for a new edition. I dunno. I'm just hoping for something exciting, which I know is subjective but Warhammer for the last few months hasn't really been getting me excited the way it used to DarkChaplain and The Scorpion 1 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/384814-upcoming-bl-stuff-2025/page/13/#findComment-6101553 Share on other sites

It’s Hill’s best work yet in my mind and an excellent guard novel. The Minka Lesk series is clearly an homage to Gaunt’s Ghosts in many ways (the focus on a single regiment, the large number of characters and varied settings, the bleak and relatively grounded tone) and this time I think it comes close to Abnett’s work in quality, even more so than Traitor Rock. I’ve been putting on jungle sounds in the background and it’s a joy to read. Hopefully the back half is as good as the front. Tolmeus
There has been a serious lack of anything interesting regarding the current 40k universe for months. I know that the last Indomitus Crusade novel is going to be released in April, but come on, what is going on there? It has worked fine till 2023. And what about the Lion? Since his release there hasn't been anything forthcoming. Hopefully, they take there time to prepare some awesome new campaign... darkhorse0607
I wonder if we're getting another Armaggedon book. ADB is writing the codex/campaign books lore side, and the next one is focused on the 65th Armageddon War (which, given that it's ADB is not surprising) so I wonder if there will be a novel eventually. Knowing BL probably in a year or two, but still. DarkChaplain
There's a new Reader's Choice poll going on, and the picks are mindboggling again. Vote Josh Reynolds' Neferata for WHFB. Even if it's just to signal them that Josh is beloved, and that they :cuss:ed up magnificently by axing the Blood of Nagash trilogy that Neferata opened.... To be fair to the Mephiston novel, I'm pretty sure that Blood of Sanguinius had a substantially lower number of copies printed than either Revenant Crusade or City of Light later on. While it won't win (my bet is on Deathwatch), I for one was quite excited about the prospect of grabbing a physical copy for less than $100 USD. Oh well!
