Its that you have things like the first and second war for Armagedon, that are just totally ignored. No novels, no sourcebooks, nothing.

I feel the same way about wanting a book for the Tyranid invasion of Macragge (please Robert Rath if you're listening, I will love you forever)

Again, we are supposedly in the midst of the greatest Tyranid invasion ever (lol), it would be a prime time to have a book that covers the first encounters with the Tyranids, the invasion of Macragge, etc. Plus with the success of Devastation of Baal, it seems like a decent business decision.

But no, the only Tyranid coverage we've gotten that I can recall was a book that I ended up not even finishing (even as a big Ultramarines person)

but also my list of wants are long. I want more Deathwatch because I think if they're well done they could be really interesting with the dynamics of all the different chapters, I want anything about the Raptors, I want more Raven Guard (no more Thorpe please), I'm surprised we haven't seen a Vigilus novel as much as they're pushing it (don't really want one but just surprised), etc.

I’m curious about what constitutes good sales figures for BL too.  Especially since (a) they nearly always sell out due to the lowish numbers they print and, (b) we are always hearing that the BL stuff is ‘just’ PR pamphlets for the games/models, so any sales numbers shouldn’t be that big an issue.

While I understand GW is a business, and profits are the name of the game, when you are selling (almost) everything you publish I can’t understand why they don’t vary their output a lot more (and I don’t mean they should whack out a book for every model).

I wasn't sure where else to put it and it's more "not upcoming" info but no need to create a new thread.

Thanks for this @theSpirea, not just for the confirmation on Iron Hands 3, but also as it led me to some of David Guymer's other responses to Qs, proving what a kind and patient chap he is to indulge some people's rather odd requests:

"I have some questions about the scene in Karag Durak Grudge where Skratch begins crying @David Guymer I know these questions sound weird but please please PLEASE reply back

You're not wrong, but I'll do my best!

When Skratch cried, did his tears run all the way to the end of his snout/tip of his nose?

Hmmm, I would imagine them running down the side of his face, rather than going all the way to the end of his snout.

Exactly how would Skratch react and what would he say to me if I hugged him, rubbed his back and licked those tears running down his muzzle with my tongue as he cried? Because every time I read that, I fantasize licking every last tear from Skratch's muzzle

I think he would hug you very close for your potential use as a human shield.

Dumb question but on a scale from 1 to 10 with 10 being the saltiest, how salty would Skratch's tears taste on my tongue if I licked them directly from his muzzle?

There are no dumb questions - only weird ones!

A quick Google tells me that human tears are less salty than seawater, so I'm going with a cool 3.

On a scale from 1 to 10 with 1 being freezing cold and 10 being scalding hot, how warm were those tears running down Skratch's muzzle?

Let's say 4. I can't say I've ever noticed tears' temperature, suggesting to me that they're neither overly hot nor especially cold

I loved these sorts of Q&As. Josh Reynolds used to respond to a LOT of those things back in the day, before the legal team slapped him for the sin of giving people closure on canceled projects and forgotten plotlines, particularly during the End Times...

Unfortunately, however, yes. Though clearly planned from the outset to be a trilogy, the odds of a third book in that series are now decidedly slim.

[This kills the roomsky]

I still maintain the Iron Hands are the most interesting loyalists with probably the most actual serious sci-fi (as relates to trans/post human supersoldiers) potential entwined within the main themes of the chapter. We need more of them. Guymer's books were very good.

I think its a problem with a lot of chapters out there that have some really interesting potential (i.e. Raptors, Raven Guard, Howling Griffons, the list goes on) but just either havent even gotten a novel/novella, or that the ones they got were so surface level it set a bad predicent for the chapter

Or even worse. They get a novel and its just about the primarch, but because its got the chapter in it, it counts as a chapter specific novel. I'm looking at you Dark Imperium series

Another box set release next week, Saints of the Imperium, containing Celestine by Andy Clark, Ephrael Stern: The Heretic Saint by David Annandale, and The Triumph of Saint Katherine by Danie Ware.

Normally, I’m up for this sort of thing, but I’m sure these all received the LE treatment when individually released.  So why a second go round when their are a lot more books of quality in the BL vaults that could be recycled?

I don't understand it either. While the set looks great, these are all pretty crappy novels even by BL standards. And as you pointed out, all already received LE treatment. This is milking at its finest.

It's not there are some other titles that have been out of print for decades that would deserve reprint...

I always suspect that LE re-releases like this are pulled together to fill scheduling gaps when manuscripts are delayed and to give design staff a chance to flex their muscles a little.

Not a release I'm going after myself. I've already got the LE of Triumph and a standard copy of Heretic Saint (which didn't blow me away). The only lure for me is the Celestine book really but I can get the stories elsewhere.

I'm going to be really interested to see the end of the year novel count excluding re-release Limited Editions

Assuming all the announced books get released it’s not going to differ that dramatically from previous years. We’re looking at 20 books right now, maybe more if BL has a surprise or two left to reveal. But its certainly felt like BL was missing in action for most of the year.

novels per year. So far 2025 does seem to be slower

2019 - 30 (Plague War, Kal Jerico, First Wall LEs only)
2020 - 26 (Luther, Astorath, Helwinter Gate LEs only)
2021 - 26 (Ghaz, Vincula Insurgency LEs)
2022 - 38 (Warboss, Shadowsun LEs only)
2023 - 31 (all LEs got general release within the same year)
2024 - 26 (Leontus, Interceptor City LEs only)
2025 - 14 so far? (Abraxia LE only so far)

The numbers can change slightly, depending under which year you count LE under. If only LE was released within that year, I didn't count it

I'm slacking this year keeping the sheet up-to-date, will have to get back to it soon and catch up

Hello fellow fraters. I took some pictures from some interesting notes of Guy Haley and Chris Wraight regarding potential new novels.

The first is the introduction (exclusive?) to the limited edition of "DAwn of Fire - The Silent King":

My interest is especially about the passage in the second picture, where Haley writes "Almost, I say, as there is one more book I need to write before the majority of the plot threads and ideas that originated in Dark Imperium are resolved."
I think it is fair to say that Haley is the author who has been most prominent with his works regarding the "main" plot line in Warhammer40k ever since Dark Imperium. With the Silent King his has completed the road from the start of the Indomitus Crusade to nearly the passage of Guilliman into Imperium Nihilus which we have already discovered at the end of "Devestation of Baal". Chronologically speaking, the latest novel is "Genefather", as we haven't had the story where Gulliman ventures into Nihilus. So my guess for Haley's last novel would be that passage of Guilliman finally making the journey to Nihilus and connecting the stories to Devestation of Baal (and finally there might be the possibility of Guilliman meeting the Lion [who has been left in the dark ever since his reapperance 2023!])

Now, Chris Wraight has also mentioned some interesting in the annoted edition of "Lords of Silence":

Fair to say that is more of a personal wish from him. Nonetheless, I thought it interesting enough to share.

In one of the recent interviews Wraight also stated he'd love to do more in Crime imprint and thought the book sold well. And here we are...

Sometimes I get angry at myself for keep buying BL products because this company doesn't give a *** about customers experience whether it's related to keeping books in print or finishing up series

....I hope I'm misinterpreting Haley's words, and he's not actually not going to wrap up Fabian Guelphrain's storyline. The bloke is fantastic and I want to see more of him, particularly post-Godblight...

BL just keeps killing my darlings, be it Warhammer Heroes, Time of Legends, the Malus Darkblade sequel series, Warhammer Horror, Warhammer Crime, anything by Josh Reynolds....

I interpreted it as exactly that - Fabian won’t get his resolution, just fading into the background never to be heard of again.  It wouldn’t surprise me if we never see another spotlight of the Historitors after their mention in passing in The Silent King.

I can’t express in words just how much I miss the Crime imprint.

I can't see the "one more book I need to write" being anything other than the sequel to Genefather. Haley was setting up for a very specific adventure with some very specific new allies for a very specific purpose, indeed one that dates back to Dark Imperium.

The only question is what threads from other works may be woven in.

Id imagine it will be some time travel crap where Cawl kinda screws up some crap but luckily Orikan and Trazyn show up to have some zany adventure and put everything back to where it was at the start but Cawl gets some Mcguffin from Trazyn for his troubles that is the focus of the next novel. The book ends with Cawl talking to Gulliman in the 40k equivalent of Cawl sweating nervously and tugging at his collar while Trazyn's special scarab is smirking at him in the back ground as Cawl is explaining that nothing happened and his technological lead is a dead end. The Epilogue is then some mysterious stranger who cackling as some development and in steps Fabius Bile for additional set up for the next novel.

There are several storylines he might want to follow up on just from The Silent King.  There is the fate of Agathey (which could be the basis for your suggested Trazyn/Bile buddy book).

He may want to write about the recovery of the Indomitable Spirit from the Red Corsairs (I don’t recall us getting the full story yet) or follow up on Cawl’s quest to master Necrontyr technology and/or stabilise the Attilan Gate crossing into Nihilis.  Or Guilliman’s crossing into Nihilis, ending at his arrival at Baal.

This doesn’t even cover other mentioned in passing stuff like what is haunting the Indomitable Spirit (“the ship isn’t safe”), the fate of the Historitors group, or the errand Guilliman sends Yassilli Sulymanya on.  God knows how many loose ends are still hanging from the other books.

With so many possible storylines to follow up, Haley probably wants to write a Blood Bowl novel.

There are finally releases:

Voidscarred by Mike Brooks- Limited Edition, Hardback, Ebook, Audiobook

The Remnant Blade by Mike Vincent- Hardback, Ebook, Audiobook

Darkness Eternal (various)- Hardback, Ebook, Audiobook

Elemental Council by Noah Van Nguyen (almost done with this btw, definitely my book of the year, I dont care that it was published Dec 2024)- Paperback

Darkness Eternal sounds fun assuming they're new stories, planning to pick up all of them though. I hope The Remnant Blade gets a fair shake and not just seas of "this isn't ADB's Night Lords"
