The Praetorian of Inwit
From the way the warcom article is written I'd say the implication is that Darkness Eternal is previously published short stories put together. Hopefully it is new. The Remnant Blade is intriguing. I don't think I've read anything by Mike Vincent before. Can anyone tell me anything about his writing? DarkChaplain
Darkness Eternal includes a Peter Fehervari novel. The question is: Which? Maybe the one from WD, which would be great, or a new one, which would be fantastic? theSpirea
How do we know it includes a novel? WH article only said "This compilation of 13 short stories" I saw this on reddit, no source added though One Million Years (Nate Crowley) Altar of Maws (Peter Fehervari) The Light of the Emperor (Daris Hinks) The Devouring Void (Danie Ware) * Own Worst Enemy (Denny Flowers) * Arcady Pride (Justin D Hill) Nightsider Imperialis (Victora Hayward) * A Forbidden Meal (Carrie Harris) * Eradicant (R S Wilt) * The Convocation (Tammy Nicholls) * Stealing Orpheon (Richard Ford) * Lessons of Rorphax (Callum Davis) Devilhunter (Nicholas Wolf) * 8 (not 6, not 7, I can't count past 5 obviously) of 13 shorts are new to print, not too bad a ratio. A couple of others many will likely not have: The Light of the Emperor (White Dwarf & 2025 Store Anniversary) Arcady Pride (only the Hell's Last LE) Lessons of Rorphax (White Dwarf) Edited Monday at 12:35 PM by theSpirea Felix Antipodes and skylerboodie 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/384814-upcoming-bl-stuff-2025/page/35/#findComment-6132268 Share on other sites

Lord Marshal
A new wave of Imperial Guard books goes over the top, as well as a rerelease of the Yarrick series (foreshadowing?) and Steel Treads: Quote Before he became the legend who bested Ghazghkull Thraka on the war-wracked world of Armageddon, Sebastian Yarrick was a fresh-faced commissar beginning his front-line career in Yarrick: Imperial Creed by David Annandale. This classic novel is collated in a regal new collection alongside Yarrick: The Pyres of Armageddon – in which he makes planetfall on the world that will make his name – and Chains of Golgotha and Other Stories. This is your chance to own a complete collection of Yarrick’s most legendary adventures. Quote The faceless regiments of the Death Korps of Krieg are relentless in their pursuit of victory, and they’ll need to double down on their die-hard determination in The Relentless Dead by Steve Lyons – the next Death Korps novel after Dead Men Walking captured the bleak horror of life in a Krieg trench line. Colonel Graven of the 401st Krieg Regiment has been tasked with finding a missing inquisitor in an endless warren of bone caverns wracked by Chaos plague, and it doesn’t take long for his kill team to come up against unspeakable horrors that cannot be allowed to see the light of day. Quote A direct sequel to Steel Tread, Demolisher by Andy Clark is the gripping tale of a Leman Russ crew in the midst of an apocalyptic war. We rejoin Hadeya Etsul and her motley mob of tankers, now dealing with the fame they earned with their success in Operation Jotunn. They’re on a fast-track transfer to the next critical offensive, and this time it may be more than their poor tank can handle. A legendary Lord Commissar must survive the perilous journey to a beleaguered front, but dark forces wait to ambush the convoy when it’s at its most vulnerable. Alongside the release of Demolisher, Steel Tread will return to the range in a new hardback version to match its sequel, so you can follow our heroes’ story from the beginning. Quote If you prefer your stories more airborne, and couldn’t get enough of Double Eagle and Interceptor City, a new novel all about an elite squadron of Valkyrie pilots should be right up your alley. Vagabond Squadron by Robbie MacNiven tells the story of the 901st Tactical Wing, a hard-flying and hard-fighting band of pilots thrown into their most dangerous conflict yet, as the looming threat of xenos air superiority threatens to end the defence of Kanai Tertius – a perfect recipe for disaster when a novice aviator is added into the mix. Quote All four of these books will also be getting their own magnificent Special Editions, for dedicated officers of the Astra Militarum who want the best in their collections. We’ll have more details on these releases later this year Edited Tuesday at 12:59 PM by Lord Marshal Ubiquitous1984, Preliminary Bombardment, darkhorse0607 and 2 others 4 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/384814-upcoming-bl-stuff-2025/page/35/#findComment-6132502 Share on other sites
cheywood
Three promising new IG titles? What a beautiful thing to see. I can’t decide which I’m more excited for. Steve Lyons is usually solid and understands the DK, Andy Clark’s at his best with ground level stories, and it’ll be nice to see MacNiven move away from emotionally-deadened Space Marines like the Sharks and Exorcists. He deserves to get to grips with some characters with real personalities hopefully. sitnam
Excited for another MacNiven release, his Carcarodons and Exorcists works were really fun. I thought Steel Tread was decent but didn't expect a sequel. I generally like Andy Clark so I'll probably check it out eventually. I honestly don't think Lyons Krieg works after Dead Men Walking and a few of the short stories have been that good. Krieg and Siege of Vraks had cool moments but weren't DMW good. Maybe not having to constrain himself to existing stories will help. DarkChaplain
....because commissioning David Annandale to write the third Yarrick novel would be too difficult, let's just recycle the old books that have already been omnibus'd anyway. Typical GW/BL move, and no less infuriating than usual. At least there's some other Astra Militarum novels coming, too. cheywood and System Sound 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/384814-upcoming-bl-stuff-2025/page/35/#findComment-6132515 Share on other sites

Seems to have been a bit since his last work. His Yarrick stories were great, imo. Chains of Golgotha was fantastic, and it guts me that he got to set up Yarrick for the 3rd War, but then only got to write up to the 2nd War, before the series got axed. Also: Crossover to Setheno, who appeared in the Black Dragons novel. System Sound
More Aeronautica stuff? And a tanker book? Good stuff. wecanhaveallthree
Imperial Creed is still one of my favourite books in the canon. If Renegade Squadron isn't a big wide wink and grin towards Rogue Squadron, I'll eat my hat. This'll be a must buy for me, as will Demolisher - any tank book is a good book. Maybe not having to constrain himself to existing stories will help. I trust Lyons with Krieg. Deep down "Krieg" is about the origin story of the regiments. There is a story set in Era Indomnitus, but the flashbacks are the real meat of the novel: how an unreasonable and uncompromising fanatic came to be worshipped as a great hero. "Siege of Vraks" wasn't my cup of tea, but it won book of the year in a dark horse manner, so it must've had something I missed. No one in this forum predicted it would win, and y'all know it The short stories are interesting too, and they touch themes peripheral to Kriegers: how do random rebels percieve them, what do they do if the tides of fate make them drift to civilian life (real civilian life, not the regimental-civic life of Krieg), how do they deal with their own stereotype of being suicidal and expendable and with other regiments, etc... Lyons has a good grasp on themes, and that makes up for his structural deficiencies. They will probably get Annandale to finish the trilogy now that this is out… so they can milk another box set out of the same(ish) material Seriously though, it’s good to see some movement on the BL new releases front. Some may be unhappy about the lead time between announcement and actual release date, but I’m just glad to know something is coming rather than something turning up out of the blue on Preview Sunday. Not sure about their spiel about most demanded sequels can be taken at face value though (unless they are talking about demanded by messers Lyons & Clark). I can think of several other books I’ve wanted to sequels to, and seen demanded on here and other sites, before these two. I’ll still be picking these up though as I don’t mind the author’s previous work and I’m a sucker for Guard stories of any stripe. LemartesTheLost Posted yesterday at 02:41 PM Share Posted yesterday at 02:41 PM I'll be grabbing Demolisher by Clark for sure, I really rate Steel Tread and am interested to see how he develops those characters further. Interesting to see that Steel Tread is getting a HB release alongside the new novel as well. This is the first book from the Astra Militarum imprint to receive that treatment, IIRC. As for MacNiven's contribution with Vagabond Squadron, I'm quite pumped, we always need more Aeronautica stuff, but I might spring for the SE as the HB art is just really rough, imho.
