I'm not particularly fond of these comic-style covers. LE's style used to be more grimdark. It's probably just another marketing decision.

The style of the hardcover book, on the other hand, is fine.

Honestly I dont even like the new design for the Necrons, this guy looks like hes getting ready for a Larping photoshoot rather than actually being a Necron lord with some semblance of being a technologically advanced ancient terminator  alien race, the modern Necrons are just lame. And I mean this coming from playing the Dawn of War games, these are just not the same Necrons at all and i wish GW would push back on their modern designs wheres everything is just way too much and ostentatious without thought of like hey does this thing this guy has on his armour actually have a practical purpose.

The old necrons were deadly this guy looks like hes gonna have a chat about how much hes depressed that his artifact thingy doesnt work because the scale is off balance and now he has to go find some other Mcguffin from some zany Necron who has lost their mind a little bit.

Ah I get that from where you are coming from. IMO the starting trailer for Dawn of War: Dark Crusade was the epitome of picturing the Necrons as cold killing machines. And the Flayed Ones showed that even more (I mean, nobody took their ‘disguise’ seriously, but that made them all the more sinister).

https://a.co/d/9UHEBgW  Dropsite Massacre by John French moved up from December to November 18

https://a.co/d/0N7dvam  The Dark Coil: Ascension launching November 4

https://a.co/d/0JHvKNh  This is the most significant delay: Ashes of the Imperium by Chris Wraight moved from next month, October, to December 16

https://www.fnac.com/a21832736/The-Horus-Heresy-Les-Cendres-de-l-Imperium-Chris-Wraight  According to Fnac Ashes of the Imperium is releasing even later in January 2026

https://www.fnac.com/a21597727/Warhammer-40-000-Maitre-des-Rites-Rob-Young  Master of Rites by Rob Young moved to December

Wondered where Master of Rites ended up. Thanks for doing the good work

Also, not mad that Dropsite Massacre and Ashes of the Imperium swtiched places. That way we all have something to complain about over Christmas. That, and I think while I am a tried and true Wraight fan, I'm looking forward to Dropsite Massacre a bit more.

I wonder what approach the Dropsite book will take.

The epic Know No Fear approach, with a big cast and viewpoints from most of the legions?

The usual medium-scale HH/BL fare, with some of the huge players + captains and some Guardsmen/a Titan crew?

A more in-depth look at it through the eyes of a smaller cast?

400 pages of first-person Ferrus?

Disappointed that Ashes is delayed. Must be a printing issue at this stage as the actual writing must be finished, if not finished some time ago (presumably they have a least 2 or 3 books in this series written already).

Looking forward to Dropsite Massacre.

From the blurb

"We’ll follow old faithfuls such as Maloghurst the Twisted and Khârn of the 8th on Isstvan V, alongside newer characters like Castrmen Orth of the Iron Hands and Kaedes Nex, the Blood Crow."

I feel like its going to be similar to how he did Slaves to Darkness with jumping between the various characters individual stories before the conclusion

First 50 pages or so are him getting to Istavan and dueling Fulgrim. The rest are just blank...
