Upcoming BL Stuff 2025

I mean one of the saddest parts (other than the fact that GW spent millions on that website, is one of the most profitable companies in the UK, has hundreds of stores, has multi-continent distribution but still can't semi-successfully launch one limited edition book on a random Tuesday morning without having to shut down the website)

is that if you really just care about the lore and wanted the LE as just a nice bonus, then more than likely you're getting left behind. By the time GW figures this out, picks/announces a new date, does the pre-order (assuming it doesn't get shut down again) and ships the books after whatever waiting period, the other formats will probably already be out, especially on the audio side because they sometimes launch early. So you're left behind all because you wanted to give GW more money than everyone else, while everyone else uncovers the secret ending that promises this is only part of the final anthology of the Horus Heresy and there's actually three more anthologies before the final final story of the Horus Heresy

Unless you give them more money and buy a second copy that is

...

I mean... if all somebody cares about is The Lore and The Metaplot Implications and has no interest in reading the stories for their own sakes to immerse themselves in all that nonsense like prose, characters, plots, and craft of writing... why even get the book?

Seriously. Given the abundance of internet circles and discussions and repositories of summaries that anybody online has access to? If all somebody is interested in is whether or not Named Character X fights/kills Named Character Y or The Ultimate Fate of [Proper Noun]... that information becomes readily and freely accessible pretty quickly.

From Mr Abnett’s facebook page:

By the way... my previous posts about this event (and, actually, pretty much anything I post) have resulted in many comments asking for Pandaemonium (Bequin book 3). Positively demanding it. And I'm delighted you're keen, because so am I. But for those who don't know, it is not MY decision when Pandaemonium gets finished and published. For reasons an NDA prevents me from discussing, Bequin 3 - and some other things - are held up for a while. It's coming - and I'll be delighted to bring it to you - but in the meantime, try to be patient... and maybe try to enjoy the things that I AM writing :)

So Bequin 3 is probably done and in the BL vault awaiting release  but what are the “other things” mentioned?  Let the speculation begin…

I'd feel less annoyed with this GW/BL/Abnett "scheduling", to put it nicely, if I hadn't been made to believe the theory would be wrapped up and done in 3-4 years max, with the 2nd book following a mere year after the first, when I bought the Hardback ..... 13 bloody years ago.

I'm no longer feeling "keen" at this point, I want to throw my copy of the hardback at the head of whatever executive thought it was a good idea to come up with this endless mess of delays, secrecy, further delays, a shred of hope, then that turned out to be a interquel between Ravenor 3 and Bequin 1, 5-6 years after Pariah, and then a further 3 years of delays and speculation before Penitent happened and Pariah discarded the original cover style and flair, and it's been ANOTHER FOUR YEARS since then. It's been longer since Penitent than the entire trilogy was supposed to take wrapping up originally, when it started, before the ideas got too big for the Abnettverse alone to contain them, needing a freakin' THREE VOLUME BRICK at the end of the Horus Heresy to set up the trilogy's eventual finale.... And we're now A YEAR past that point, too.

And what has Dan released since then? The sequel to another novel. A sequel that only took a brief 20 years to show up. Not exactly inspiring confidence there that we'll see Pandaemonium before the end of the decade...

Besides that? What has Abnett written or is writing for BL that we could enjoy in the meantime? Because again, the last thing before Interceptor City was the 3-tome brick that soured me and apparently many others on the Heresy's climax and burned me out on most of BL's output ever since. Good thing we're getting "Fragments (All We Have Left)" in the Era of Ruin anthology, then, huh? Because what I need in my life are more "Fragments".

Frankly, my bet at this point is on Abnett being the one to write the Horus novel for Primarchs, to further metaverse it up. I'm too cynical to believe McNeill will be doing it anymore, or anytime soon...

Rant over. For now.

On an unrelated note: What's the original red Pariah hardback go for these days? Asking for a friend.

Its my pipe dream that ADB takes the Horus primarch novel as like a prequel to some concept thats going to be in BL 3.  I'm thinking that Era of Ruin is probably the lynch pin/watershed moment that allows for a bunch of stuff to take place because of BL's new found love for meta plots and deep foreshadowing.

I mean since this is it for Siege of Terra and the final limited edition for the Indomitus series is coming it looks like an excuse for BL to promote another limited edition series to sell us.

I'd also guess that BL 3 is gonna be called Drach'nyen and its gonna be setting Abbadon as like an evil King Arthur and im sure its gonna have moments like hey remember that stuff from The End and the Death, Era of Ruin and Horus, well heres the pay off, arent we so clever!!!

Please, please, please - I don't want ADB. I don't want Abnett. I want McNeill, or at the very least French, to put some kind of capstone on the utter weirdness that has informed all the Horus guff through the Heresy. I don't want it to be a sideshow to Abaddon. It is, to my mind, a core of Horus' theming, the sheer, utter strangeness surrounding so many parts of his arc through the Heresy. We still don't know about the original trip to Molech. We still don't know about all the weird Horus visions. We obviously have no freaking idea what was going on in Lupus Daemonis. I need to know. I've been waiting to know for years. Years!

"Who is the primarch of the blood angels" or something.

Surely it's 'who is the Primarch of the Blood Ravens'!

He was editor in the Siege of Terra series. I remember him hosting some of the panels at a previous Black Library weekender event and tbh Jacob came across very keen on the sound of his own voice, seemingly spending more time talking about his own views on things than asking the speakers on the panels (i.e. the actual writers) any questions. So sadly a self promoting intro doesn't surprise me!
