This might be expensive week for some

Double Eagle has awesome cover, Interceptor City is so damn ugly... but I'm still happy they are reprinting the first book

Goddammit gonna have to buy both standard HB now or my shelf will look a bit out of whack!

The back of the new Dark Coil omnibus refers to a "Peter Feheravi"...

The story order is almost the same as that posted on  Michael "Track of Words" Dark Coil section, except for the positioning of the Fire Caste novel, which should appear after Altar of Maws.

...they didn't seriously misspell the author's name, did they?!

I had a good laugh on WarCom just now, with them advertising the Eldar books from Black Library as part of the miniatures launch. Both Phoenix Lords and Ynnari series featured ..... surely, we can expect a sequel to both of these axed series, right? Now THAT would've been a good way to promote the new Phoenix Lord minis...

Having a gander at the LE copy of Red Tithe that I purchased and while reading the foreword by Robbie, I have discovered that Void Exile (the Carcharodons book teased for half of a second during the last BL stream) is in fact the last installment in the MacNiven trilogy. HUZZAH! One trilogy down, about seven more to go!

Any idea when Interceptor city will be out for kindle?

Wow Double Eagle sold out before Interceptor City. I wasn't expecting that, but thinking about it now i suppose that's not entirely surprising. DE is nearly old enough to purchase alcohol in the US now. This might well be the first time significant portions of current readership audience have had to get a physical hardcover copy.

Let's hope this nudges BL to consider doing this more often. In the end, it might even boost sales of sequels if the damn prequel is available for purchase, especially now with the influx of so many new people into the hobby.

There is a lot of books from the early years of BL that I would like to see revisited/republished but I don’t think we will ever see their return to print unless the author has a big following like Abnett or ADB.

The new editions of MacNiven’s Carcharadons books, as well as the new edition of Double Eagle, give me hope but I doubt it’s a change in company policy/new trend as much as I’d like it to be.

They could always push their authors to put sequels out in less than a decade or two.

how long ago was the first bequin novel released? It’s been a decade or more since the second book was released.

or maybe it’s just a Dan abnett issue? Maybe they should stop having him on new projects when he has ongoing series to work on.

It was the opposite in the case of Interceptor City, from an interview with him recently. He wanted to write it for years and it was the first thing he wrote when he was done with the Heresy/Siege.

Like 1 hour 6 mins into this he talks about it.

It’s also definitely not been a decade or more since the second Bequin book (yet…), although it was 12 years or something between the first and second.

Yeah, as much as I have bemoaned Abnett lately, it's absolutely not an Abnett specific issue

ADB is just as guilty with the Black Legion series, with Black Legion coming out in 2017 and still no word of the third entry almost 8 years later

Wraight hasn't said anything about the third Watchers of the Throne novel and that's going on 5 years

etc.

That isn't meant to be a knock against the authors, they've been busy, but just defending Abnett here with the observation that BL is seemingly terrible at ensuring series are finished in a timely manner

*edit

Also because I think it's worth noting as we discuss scalpers and how it is possibly interacting with BL's release schedule

I don't think they're that worried about it. While not a novel, they just announced a mega-special-superduper Emperor's Children codex. While on it's own, it's not a huge departure, but one selling point of it is that it comes with 1/4th of a larger medallion, so if you get all four of the god-specific codices, you can combine them together to make a larger medal. That is just inviting scalping issues like they had with the SoT series and many other limited edition books

It’s only a problem if GW have a small print run for the codex LE.  If they print sufficient quantities then scalpers will be put off.

So pleased they are going back to the old Codex LE format.  Was it 7th edition that had all those cool LE codex?

The way to get around the scalping issues is to go made to order.  That way everyone who wants it gets a copy and, who knows, they might actually sell more copies and make a larger profit without worrying about piles of unsold stock in their warehouses.

Not sure if that would work with something like a codex though, since they are almost obsolescent on release by their very nature.

Wasn't the Black Library Celebration online video event supposed to happen in February? Has any specific date been announced? Only 17 days of February are left. I check the Warhammer Community website everyday but I do not see any indication of a Black Library event this month. Does anyone have any idea about this BL event?

It’s usually right at the end of February, so not surprising they haven’t announced yet. If we don’t hear about it this weekend I’d start to suspect a delay.

Wednesdays are normally Black Library days for WHC, so I feel like if we are going to see anything about it this week, it'll be tomorrow. If not maybe an announcement this weekend for the last week of Feb?

Bl authors used to be a lot more forthcoming on social media about what they were working on. Its a shame that stopped. I enjoyed getting teases and knowing what was coming up. Shame they can't do it any more.

The lack of proper engagement has somewhat sucked the joy out of being a fan. The whole patronising (writing aimed at 12 year olds on WHC) secret squirrel approach to what is coming and when is totally irritating me these days.
