L30n1d4s
Just for fun, totally ignoring any balance/"fair play" considerations, how would you make an Astartes "super detachment" if given the option to cherry pick your favorite rules out of the ALL of the currently existing Astartes detachments? Here are the rules: Pick one Detachment Rule Pick any four Enhancements Pick any five Stratagems (the sixth has to be Armour of Contempt, just like every other Astartes detachment) The goal is to make the "coolest" or most powerful detachment that you want, purely for the Awesome factor (again not trying to be balanced or anything here). For example, here is what I would do: --- <<Shield of Redemption Task Force>> DETACHMENT RULE: Company of Hunters (from Dark Angels) -- All units can Advance/Fall Back and Shoot, Mounted units can also Advance/Fall Back and Charge) ENHANCEMENTS: Thief of Secrets (from Black Spear Task Force) — Bearer gets +1S/-1AP/+1Dmg on melee weapons, if he kills a model, goes to +2S/-2AP/+2Dmg on melee weapons Champion of Humanity (from Firestorm Assault Force) — Tacticus model only. Bearer's unit can ignore any and all modifiers to their stats (except armor modifiers) The Blade Driven Deep (from Vanguard Spearhead) — Bearer's unit gains Infiltrate Fussilade (from Librarius Conclave) — Astartes Psyker only. Bearer's unit gains Anti-Monster (5+)/Anti-Vehicle (5+) on its shooting attacks STRATEGEMS: Armour of Contempt Strike from the Shadows (from Vanguard Spearhead) — When shooting at greater than 12" from enemy unit, gain +1BS and -1AP for ranged attacks. If an enemy model is killed, force Battleshock test A Deadly Prize (from Vanguard Spearhead) — Stricky an objective and, if an enemy units gets within range of it, on a 2+ that units suffers D3 Mortal Wounds Red Rampage (from Liberator Assault Group) — Unit gains either Lance or Lethal Hits for its melee weapons, or it can get both, but is automatically Battle-Shocked Battle Drill Recall (from Anvil Siege Force) — Unit gains Sustained Hits (1) for shooting and, if it stands still, gets Critical Hits on a 5+ Site-to-Site Teleportation (Black Spear Task Force) — Take an Infantry unit that is not in Engagement Range and put it into Reserves at the end of your Opponent's Fight Phase. It then gains the Deep Strike rule until the end of your next Movement Phase. HeadlessCross
I like the one you came up with, but I think just going Gladius as the detachment rule would be stronger. Indy Techwisp
Detachment Name: Black Library Protagonists Detachment Rule: Larger than Life You may only take Adeptus Astartes Infantry Units in your army. Adeptus Astartes Infantry units in your army must be taken at their minimum squad size. Your army must contain only 2 Adeptus Astartes Infantry units. At the start of the Declare Battle Formations step, before any units have been set up, Adeptus Astartes Infantry units in your army must be split into seperate units, each containing one model. If any enhancement was equipped to this unit, select 1 of the seperated units to be equipped with the enhancement. For the purposes of attached characters, these units still count as 1 unit and the benefits of any characters apply to all of the separated units. Each Adeptus Astartes Infantry Model in your army gains the following benefits: Gain the Character keyword. +5 OC +15 Wounds. An Invulnerable Save equal to their Armour Save. A 2+ Feel No Pain against all wounds. +3 to Hit with all Weapons. +5 attacks for all equipped Weapons. +3 Strength for all equipped Weapons. +2 AP for all equipped Weapons. +3 Damage for all equipped weapons. Auto advance 6". Advance, Fall-back, Shoot and Charge. Auto-pass all Battleshock tests. Enhancements: Heros never Die Adeptus Astartes character. The first time this model would be destroyed, roll 2d6. On a 3+, set this unit back up as close as possible to where it was destroyed with half its wounds remaining. Product Placement Adeptus Astartes Character. Select a Weapon avaliable to any unit in your army that has not been selected by any units in your army. This unit is now equipped with that Weapon in addition to any weapons it already has. Untouchable Adeptus Astartes Character. Once per battleround, when this unit is selected as the target of an attack, set all the Attack rolls to an unmodified result of 1. Astartes Bias Adeptus Astartes Character. At the beginning of the first Battleround, if any units with this Enhancement are on the battlefield, you score 20VP. There are no Strategems.
