Derethmus
Hello, Never looked up a 40k Forum before and haven't been on forums since I was a teenager. Felt like it's time to try it out again. I don't play the tabletop, much to my emberassment. Though once I am secured in my overall life situation, I will definitely buy and paint an army and start. I love the lore. I've read most of the Horus Heresy, as well as listening to it. I feel that things are now just starting to pick up again in the current lore and I'm eager for it. You'll mostly see me in the Fan Fiction sharing my homebrew chapters and any other stories I write set in the 40k verse. Hoping to read other's work, enjoy and learn from it, and talk to you all about the universe we are obsessed over and annoy our friends with. Dr_Ruminahui
Welcome! As for not actually playing, that's not a necessity, though if its something you aspire to, that's great too. There are a number of ways of enjoying this hobby, and B&C is about all of them. Myself, personally, I play a little (maybe 4 times a year) but the real focus is on painting and converting. Others are, like you, into the story telling part of things. So have at it, and I hope you enjoy your time spent here. I would direct you to the fan content area of the forum, but I see you've found it yourself. Firedrake Cordova
Welcome to the forum. Not everyone plays - some are just here because they like painting, some like playing games, some like the background. There isn't really a right or wrong way to enjoy the hobby. A number of us here enjoy having a battle-ready army more than actually playing the game. It's not even a criticism of the current 40k edition, or any previous version. It's more like that old adage, if you want peace, prepare for war. It's like a nation having a well-trained, well-equipped military to be a deterrent against war. It's actually a great achievement to even have a battle-ready army. Those of us that do, we're like the top x% of the Warhammer fandom. I actually think it's already impressive to have, say, a legal 500 pt Allied Detachment for a Horus Heresy game that you can join a larger game with, like if you want to start small. I know it's not what you meant, but that really does read that having a fully-painted army (preparing for war) is a deterrent to playing a game (war). Codex Grey
A forum is the best form of internet interaction, in my humble opinion, and the B&C is a great example. So, welcome!
