Welcome to The Bolter and Chainsword's 10th Annual Boxing Day Bash, the premise is simple; Build, Paint, and Base 1 (or more) model/s in 24hrs.

The Rules are as follows;

• Build, paint, and base one (or more) models.
• 24hr limit, determined by the time of Participants "Vow" post. Everybody gets 24hrs starting at any time on THEIR local Boxing Day (Dec 26th OR Dec 27th).
• "Completion" standard set by Participant.
• Each Vow made for the Participants sub/forum of choice.
• Each completion earns one point for building the model/s, two points for building AND painting the model/s, and a total of three points for building AND painting, AND basing their model/s within the 24hr time period.
• A fourth point will be awarded for multiple models completed within the 24hrs time period.
• Two pictures are required, one picture of the bitz or sprue, and one of the completed model/s.
• Primed bitz/sprue will be accepted.
• Individual points can be earned for completing any one individual stage of the three criteria.
• Sub-assemblies will be accepted for larger models.

Argh, I've run out of glue. If I can get some today I'll place a vow. Failing that I might have to do a late vow so I can extend it into tomorrow when I know I'll be able to pick some up.

Thinking I'll be joining tomorrow as well.  May even attempt a little bit of sculpting first.  Though it may make my wife query my Google search history ("womens cleavage in plunging dress")... 

 

Attempting to do a bit of sculpting on my Genestealer Magus of course.  Nothing untowards...

Well.... I doubt it will happen but I'll give it a crack I suppose:

 

I, Brother Argent, shall attempt to break my hobby funk and vow to take part in this years Boxing Day Bash and vow to build, base and paint 1x Genestealer Cults Magus for the honour of the Liber within the 24 hour time frame.

 

 

Kinda cheating on the base, I guess.  I was going to try some sculpting etc but the more I think about it the more I like the original model.  Thinking this may be the way I start my new year and new attempt at a blog.

Vow completed.

Not counting putting together & priming, this took about 3 hours to quickly paint up to be “finished” for this.

was a fun build and and was a fun paint session.

I was planning on doing the Yr1 WH+ Orruk Warboss into a 40k Warboss. If I get home before New Years, I may do it still,

Well, I failed.  Ended up doing a long trip with the kids and wife, so It wasn't that big a loss really.

 

I am loving being back to painting though so I'll keep it going.  And will look at starting my new log tomorrow I think.  I'll get a photo up with how far I got.  I did end up doing that scultping though.  Not happy with how it turned out but all good.

I too have to report failure.

 

The building went great, was a fun little kit, and while one or two bits were a little fiddly it was fine. While I did not do it, it looked like it was easily magnetisable. In fact I even build the second one in the box as a Hellhammer, this one was slightly more fiddly as I gave it two crew members looking out of the top hatch.

 

Unfortunately by the time I was done the weather had taken a turn for the worse and I was unable to undercoat with rattlecans yesterday or this morning and I had no other good way of undercoating them. So this is where I got to.

 

 

If I can I’ll try to finish them in the coming days.

 

I did this LI Rhino some months ago (when it was the model of the month) and I wanted to try the colour scheme on a larger model to see if I like it as my Solar Aux scheme.

Well... still need to clean up a bit (edge highlights and the basing), finish up some highlights and the lenses, and add some Alpha Legion transfers from the Forgeworld sheet. But it's a good start for kiddo's first army!
