Agramar_The_Luna_Wolf
Hi! I have a Leviathan dreadnought in my SoH army, and use it as full close combat leviathan dreadnought(Siege drill + Siege claw and phosphex discharger) and works fine for me. But I was thinking to try a ranged version, and add even more variety of options to my army list. It's better a full ranged version or a "50-50" version with one cc arm and another ranged? What are you opinions about Leviathan's ranged weapons? Are they worthy? I know they're quite short ranged but powerful. I was thinking also to add another one to my lists, although is a quite expensive model*,because in pairs usually units work better. It's a good idea? Thanks in advance. *Not only in points. In money too! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/384915-leviathan-dreadnought-with-ranged-weapons/ Share on other sites
Cadmus Tyro
I run a dual storm cannon leviathan with phosphex and calivers in most of my iron hands lists, it’s absolutely brutal. I tend to deploy it aggressively, centrally and forward. With support from contemptors or medusan immortals. Leviathans are slow, so there is a good argument for a ranged load out this edition. I find the iron hands rules help a lot, essentially T9 to shooting and their advanced reaction makes it quite a scary proposition to charge. Your mileage with another legion may vary. Although, my regular opponent has started running one with the same load out….. MARK0SIAN
I like to run mine with a siege claw and cyclonic melta lance. It makes it a threat against everything and makes charging it a scary proposition. It’s really good at killing things like contemptors in this configuration as well as elite infantry. I’ve never tried a fully ranged one as I like to send them off independently to cause havoc and without a melee weapon they’d be fairy easy to tarpit with a cheap unit. It’s really easy to magnetise as a model so I would strongly urge you to do that and then play around with the configurations until you settle on some favourites.
