Personally, I am looking forward to two things:

- First, all of the awesome and inspiring miniatures.

- Second, Youtube painting influencers explaining why Golden Demon is flawed for not giving them a trophy.

The lack of a UK big event for warhammer / tabletop gaming in general with GW support is a bit odd.

I like salute but it's definitely not a gw focused show. It does feel like a gap which could be filled in the vein of lvo, adepticon etc.

They seem in a bit of limbo with it after the last Warhammer Fest ended up being a disaster.

What happened at the last Warhammer Fest, btw?

The 2023 one was pretty universally criticized for a few things (and then they decided not to do a 2024 one which I'm sure isn't related)

This is all what I saw online from numerous places so take it with the appropriate amount of salt

-the lines were out of control, talking 2-3 hours to get a demo game of 10th

-it was cramped, so the lines for the demo were smashed into another line (for paint and take? I can't remember)

-Golden demon cabinets were crammed in between all the lines, so people that actually wanted to look at entries, were constantly bumping into the people in line and vice versa

-just generally underwhelming. I believe they had the laser tag, a demo game of 10th/take and paint and golden demon. If you lucked out and didn't have lines (like with the special influencer only night) then maybe it's about 2 hours worth of stuff? With lines it's longer but not as good as the older ones

Etc.

Maybe it wasn't the worst thing but it was universally criticized

GWs head of events.

More specifically, someone recruited from the US tourney scene, I believe, that used to run the Nova open or similar. Really criminal to not have a GD in the UK, but have it in the US twice in a row. Though it's probably easier to piggyback on someone else's event than run your own...

I've been to quite a lot of GW events over the  years includig games  days at the NEC, warhammer fests and Forgeworld open Days and thi Warhammer Fest In Manchester Central.

The lines have always been bad at every event but the Manchester one seemed particularly chaotic and badly organised. I think two thing stood out to me, the space was not particularly suitable to the event and the layout was terrible.  There were areas that were o cramped and packed (around the store and the 10th ed intro games) where the lines mashed together and wrapped aroud the golden daemon entries, and other spaces that were empty with people just milling around looking  lost.

The other thing that I personally had a gripe with was that some of the morefun events that i have loved at previuos events like the scrap daemon, speed painting and seminars  were made paid extras on top of the cost of the ticket which seemed to me a bit too far.

It genuinely put e off going to anymoreGW hosted events, not that there have been any in the UK except tournaments at WHW  since.

Cheers
