INKS
Hey everyone, so I have limited desk space and right now my paints and brushes, clippers and so on are just laying about. This won't do. I am looking for something fairly compact, maybe moveable. The holds my brushes, clippers, knife an so on. If it also holds paint like a paint rack that would also be nice. I also have a wet palette. Bryan Blaire
INKS, are you wanting something like a mobile painting station set up, or like an under desk storage option? INKS
Under the desk, on the desk, something like that. I don't need it to be too mobile as I am not taking it anywhere but if I can tuck it away that would also work or be nice. TheNicronomicon
I’m in a similar situation right now. I’d love to get a pegboard up over my desk but it’s not physically possible right now. (My office is the attic.) For now I’m using smaller RUBs based on task (assembly, painting, airbrushing, etc.) so I don’t drive myself or my partner mad. I keep them stacked on a shelf on an ikea KALLAX knockoff near my RPGs and codexes. (Codices?) SquigPile
I have been using an acrylic makeup storage case from Amazon to hold Xacto knives, nippers, files, sandpaper, etc and a makeup brush holder also from Amazon to hold my paint brushes. The makeup case has 4 drawers, each about 5"x8.5". If I need space on the desk I just move the case and holder to a shelf. For my paints I have an alex draw unit from Ikea which slides under the desk. INKS
I will look into this. right now there is a cabnet not far from my desk which my paints are in, my knife, clippers and brushes are sitting on a shelf. I have a mug coming, so I can just put them in a mug I guess. I dunno Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385000-hobby-supply-organization/#findComment-6085241 Share on other sites
Bryan Blaire
So if you have the space, here’s two different versions of a similar idea - I would probably make the top drawer for tools, personally: I currently use two small wire mesh three drawer racks for tools and extra kit and basing materials under my desk, and a couple of the make-up organizers for on desk storage of tools. I haven’t upgraded to full under desk options, mostly because my leg space is sort of limited as it is, and I use my desk for both work and painting/hobbying at times during the week, so I can’t fully commit to just the hobby desk ATM. Hope those give you some ideas! Firedrake Cordova
I use an easel brush case (one from Jackson's specifically, although I'm sure there's clones), which I find to be quite helpful - it's quite small for storage, and allows easy selection in use. All my paints live in old biscuit tins (probably not helpful as they're no longer available), but I wonder if one of the companies like Really Useful Boxes do one the right size? Rusted Boltgun
15 hours ago, INKS said: can you provide a pic? I do tie same This was a while ago and I have bought some more RUBs which really helped to tidy things up, ditched IKEA white boxes on the lowest level and that is now all rule books. Rusted Boltgun
Here's an updated photo which, I think, better illustrates how you can use RUB and Kallax. The top shelf has two 5l boxes that are tall enough for Pro Acry, Vallejo, AK, TTC and Army Painter bottles. The 1.5l boxes just squeeze in next to them (I have four on that top shelf) The 1.75l box at the very top can take the taller GW contrast bottles. None of the non-GW paints for in the 4l boxes on the middle level and I don't think Contrast fit in them either. A shame as you can fit four in Kallax (as shown). Down the side go the big Vallejo primer bottles, on top of which rest a 'pencil case' style RUB box with my brushes. Others may have found a better way but that's my set-up, hope it helps! Edited January 6 by Rusted Boltgun Middle shelf boxes are four litres, not seven Firedrake Cordova 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385000-hobby-supply-organization/#findComment-6085461 Share on other sites
