Only if the roll Emperor's Children, World Eaters, Death Guard and Thousand Sons into Codex Spiky Marines first.

Unironically yes, do the same with Space Marines. Don't like waiting for your specific sub-faction to get their rules in an edition? One neat trick!

They put all of the armies for Old World into two army books, they have that power.

They got battleforce rather than army boxes (definition is that a armybox contains the codex and is mostly made up of new models, battleforce will contain the new model the faction got while putting in a lot of older stuff). If an army is having a limited number of additions (1-3 character models) then chances are they'll just get a battleforce available on release of the codex. Eldar could be the first one to get a significant number of releases and not get an army box. GW is consistent in being inconsistent.

Well now I’m confused entirely. So no box with a special edition codex for Eldar or orks, but they still got a box? Where is this box? Can’t find it anywhere

Minka Lesk stealing the show for me, great pose with a surprinsingly normal and good face, and her retinue is cool. I only read two books about her so I need to catch up with that.

Also I am a bit worried about her price since it's a squad but it's also a black library character release...

EC is not my thing but I'm glad we finally have them for all the fans. It's been a long wait.

I agree. If they can roll four Chaos legions into one big Katamari ball of mutated power armour on the roadmap then putting Imperial Knights and Chaos Knights together makes sense. It's also both Imperial and Chaos, which is a bit more variety.

I shouldn't complain though, there have been quite a few good xenos releases lately so I suppose Chaos deserves some time in the sun. I think it's my fault for lumping all Chaos stuff together subconsciously so it always feels like Chaos time to me. Especially since a lot of it hops over into AoS. It would be like rolling all Imperial releases together. I guess it's more of a me problem.

To clarify I was trying to reply to Fire Golem about releasing the Knight books together without actually just smushing them together into grey paste.

Orks got this box:

their solitary new release was the Mek next to the stompa (if i remember)

Don't forget that Eldar isn't out and I suspect there's room for a box to be shown. They also haven't shown off a combat patrol yet. They also didn't technically say there was nothing else for them....

Off topic, but those Soulblight Gravelirds look fantastic. I’m not interested in AoS as a setting / game but the sculptors have been kicking it out of the park even with non-large scale miniatures. The two vampure sculpts are imho already miniature of the year contenders.

Shame they can't seem to funnel the creative freedom or expression into 40k very often. I liked the Krieg and Eldar stuff, but most of it was very... average/expected/safe? There wasn't much that oozed charm or pushed boundaries imo. They did take chances with EC which I appreciate, but to me it makes the world eaters look a bit dated already as a comparison point.

Financially devastating preview. My Soulblight Gravelords lack *exactly* those units, High Elves are the faction I've been waiting for in Old World, the Minka Lesk squad will fit nicely in my Guard army and the Emperor's Children... Well I don't need them but they are amazing. Between that and the Eldar I'm eagerly awaiting, it's going to be an expensive spring!

My assumption with the roadmap is the Salamanders image represents Codex Supplements for Ultramarines, White Scars, Imperial Fists, Iron Hands, Salamanders, and Raven Guard (like in 8th edition; I believe Valrak has rumoured a mini each that fit the latter five), whilst the Chaos Knights image represents both Chaos & Imperial Knights.

No space on the roadmap for images for all those chapters, and once you've decided to combine the images for the marines, it's easy to do the same for the knights; especially as it's just the 'On the Horizon' section and intended to only hint rather than spell it out at this stage.

Via Reddit, this seems a pretty good match to that silhouette. Knife and backpack match.

Oh that is a good fit! But what unit is it supposed to represent?

A nice preview though not really for me, a lot of really good looking models(especially for EC and Soulblight) but nothing I'm going to be putting on my shopping list.

At first it was a bit of a shame not to see Drukhari on the timeline thing but I'm not really expecting a lot model wise to come with the codex this edition so honestly it can come out when ever.

The Lord Exultant might be my favourite of the 40k stuff shown off today.

You're right to be worried. There's been three very similar releases of Black Library characters and their mates in AoS - the going rate is £47.50. Unless there is a price increase between now and her release which will almost certainly put her up to £50.

See? My bad paint-over was correct! I can spot a marine power pack with the best of 'em.

yeah, imagine it will have guardians in it so likely similar to ork one rather than army set with codex. and then something like guardians, exarch, and two new aspect warriors in combat patrol, unless there is a new falcon they try and fit in

only just noticed current eldar patrol no longer on the website. falcon gone too!

Valrak rumour was I believe an eldar combat patrol with warp spiders, dire avengers, spirited and wraithblades

What if they don't upgrade the Dire Avengers kit, they just recast it so that one helmet isn't wonky.
