Moonstalker
I purchased the Boarding Actions box, and I'm considering what I might do to upgrade the board. I'm considering mounting the card mats you get to some mdf using some spray adhesive, and possibly embedding some magnets in the mdf to make the walls snap in place. But if I am going to go through that effort I want to make sure the mats can stand up to years of gameplay. Anyone done something similar and have any recommendations? Should I just spray them down with some matt varnish? Bung
Paper modellers just use a few layers of thinned woodglue. But i would recommend to Invest in a proper gaming mat. sbarnby71
If you do apply a varnish or similar to the cardboard mats, just remember you're adding a water based product to cardboard (unless you can find an alcohol based or similar varnish), so apply it in very thin coats otherwise you could find the mats just wrinkle up - picture getting cardboard wet. Moonstalker
Well, on the one hand the game mats are much thicker and chunkier than I thought they would be. I thought they would be like the mat that you get in the starter set, where it's essentially a folded up poster. So I don't think I need to mount it to MDF or anything. On the downside, one of mine came damaged in the box already.
