So, it’s not like I’ve been secretive about bemoaning the loss of aircav in previous editions, and then complaining about all of my Valkyries being rendered awful by 10th edition, but GW gave us all a lovely Christmas gift in the Bridgehead strike detachment. All kinds of drop shenanigans, the promise of codex compatible and future proof. At least my Valkyries could watch from the board edge while their former passengers parachuted from orbit or from invisible, not-deliberately-overcasted, aircraft.

Now comes the codex, less than a month later and scions don’t have deep strike. Just their carebear cousins the aquilons do. Which renders some of the stratagems and equipment useless. Future proof? Come on GW it hasn’t even been a month. So is it a mistake? An omission? Or is bellicosa drop just a stratagem that doesn’t work anymore and we have to wait for an errata?

the codex looks interesting probably even fun, but I want to be able to use scions as the detachment is obviously intended.

I'm on the side of it being a mistake. Aquilons also didn't have the deepstrike rule when they were first released and got it patched in within days.

The Tempestus Command Squad is also missing the Voice of Command reference in the leak, so technically can't issue any orders.

There's just a few weird mistakes littered around, and there's no real logic to be found here. Deepstrike has been the core identity of Scions in the lore and game since they were introduced. Take it away and you've reduced them to mechanised shock troops, which we already have on the Codex. (Like Karskin for example)

I can't see any good reason why GW would remove this entire playstyle of droptroops from the codex and create this artifical overlap of specialist unit roles.

Thanks for the responses, I did see that post, and I hope it’s true.
my Mordians can be kriegers, or catachans, and I can live with HWTs being carved out of mainline squads, and even with 8-10 of my Forgeworld aircraft going to legends, but I started scions for aircav, when they had their own codex, I really enjoy playing them that way, even when not competitive.

I preordered the krieg set, looks like the label maker at work will be getting a workout “adjusting” my data cards. I would be more skeptical the deep strike thing was a mistake, except that 48inch las pistol for the Krieg HWT screams “poor proofreading”

I can see the “rushed” portion, I would think the recent run of guard making final tables or winning in competitive impacted the book, which is sad BUT, this book must have been sent to the printers months ago, which is confusing. Competitive gaming shouldn’t drive the whole book because lots of us don’t play competitive.

not that I want a broken book, or some return of leafblower guard or any other shenanigans. I’m excited that there seem to be several wildly different but viable builds that survived whatever adjustments were made. Hoping that FAQs and nerf bat are kind.

Yeah there's all sorts of weird small things that makes me feel like it was rushed. Made staying calm about the Scions on first blush a lil easier.

I wish Goonhammer had listed more of the known FAQ things.

I think GW have only approved/informed their Influencers about some of the Day One errata content, like the Scions getting Deep Strike back and Kreig Engineers going up to 70pts.

Stuff like the 48" Laspistol are an issue, buy probably less of an immediate "We need to get the change spread publicly" thing.

48" laspistol? Oh yeah, gonna abuse the heck out of this.

Glad the deep strike thing was an error. I think Air Cav might have a new home though in Mech Infantry. Looks pretty good on first glance. Too may other irons in the fire to work on it ATM though.
